My family loves this game. It's a little bit niche and difficult to find. This one is updated from the ones my sisters have and I was worried if it would be and play the same. It does, but in addition has an expansion. We haven't played some of the new buildings yet, but are excited to introduce that when we have more time to figure it out and play consistently. This is one of those more advanced games where you will feel like you have no idea what is going on the first time through, but is so fun after the first go. So many different strategies.

Puerto Rico 1897 is a fantastic reimplementation of a true classic. It offers rich strategic depth and plenty of meaningful decisions, making it perfect for players with some board gaming experience. A must-have for fans of Euro-style games!

Puerto Rico 1897 is the same amazing game but with beautiful art, 4 expansions, and fixed. When it was originally printed it had fewer coffee plantations, errors in the instructions and no text in the tiles to explain what each building did. All that is fixed! The art in the tiles and the crisp colors make it more enjoyable than the original version that is just text. If you got the old copy or if you are new to the game, this is a fantastic edition.

The game is finally fixed!!! The is one of my all time favorite games, but through a series of moves after high school and in the following years of college my copy got lost and I have been trying to get ahold of the game. Some may know other may not but the original release of Puerto Rico 1897 back in October 2022, had missing coffee tiles, the text was missing from the buildings and the rules had several misprints. But I am happy to report that the issues have now been fixed and the game is just like I remember it. It is super fun and I would recommend it to anyone!

The game looks like it could be great, but the box did not come with an instruction booklet in English. We have two instruction books, however they are in French. I went through the process of requesting the rule book - and specifically asked for a printed copy of the rule book to be sent to me. Instead I received two pdf documents. If you're anything like us, when learning a game we CONSTANTLY and CONSISTENTLY refer back to the rules. Trying to find the right spot in the rules is difficult on a phone (too small). Now no one is responding to me to even acknowledge my request for a printed copy. If you read French - you'll be able to have two people clarifying rules to you. If you read English, I'd recommend moving on to something else.

Played this with friends not long ago and had to have one for our family. I was excited to find this edition of the game, which includes four expansions. Fairly simple to learn, but with layers of strategy that make it very replayable. It does take a while, from 90 minutes to 2 hours, for a four player game, but it's time well spent.

The issues of not having coffee tiles or English words not being on the front of the tiles was fixed in the version I got. It looks like the boxes have been reused but the contents are in a shrink wrapped packet. I was holding off buying until this was fixed but I’m 100% satisfied with the purchase now. The box is totally fine too. It uses those side stickers like Villainous boxes use. I sort of hate those, but they came off without issue.

Puerto Rico 1897 has a great theme involving Puerto Ricans at the turn of the century.

Bought for my son-in-law, played together at Christmas. Was wondering what this newer version would be like as I've played the old version. loved it. Nice graphics, good sturdy wooden pieces. And it's a great game!

I bought the Puerto Rico 1897 (english/french version) from Amazon.es on the 15th of April 2024 and received it on the 19th of April 2024. On the 20th of April I got to open the game and take a look at its contents to check if this was indeed the corrected version. Indeed it seems the corrected version, partially at least, however, the instructions manuals are not the corrected ones, and the tiles mat is missing the coin price number in the french side. I am sending photos attached to show this. I already sent an email to Ravensburguer requesting replacement of these parts, I am still waiting for a reply. Other than this this is a classic fantastic game that I can recommend buying as long as you get it without any of the issues that have plagued it since its initial launch in 2022.

The Game Peurto Rico 1897 by Alea arrived undamaged in a type of sealed box but not shrink wrapped. When I opened the game it contained only three (3) of the five (5) specified player boards, and all were bent showing signs of miss alignment in the box. All other components appear to be correct at first glance. Unfortunately this means the game is unsuitable to play and is incomplete. Ravensburger has a poor quality checking process for this type of omission.
