Mantua President English Frigate 1750 Period 1:60 Scale Wooden Model Ship Kit

This is very much an entry level model. Properly built it will be fine and something for display and to be proud of. The parts are laser cut but will need some lite sanding. Wood/plank bending tools will be needed for some stages. For those who spend four hundred pounds and expect an easy afternoon stress free model are honestly fooling themselves, these models are for craft modelers and some way down the practice path. No wood model is a glue and paint, all require patients and some level of knowledge. It will not go to plan first time, hence patients and rethinks. This model is simple and a very good starting point into the tall ship world. It will produce a good looking model but time as always must be on your side. The correct tools are essential. The instructions are very good but hand sanding and fixing knowledge are essential. As always the result will be in the flexible attention to detail. My only and best advice would be to dry fit before adding glue, this applies to any model at any level.

Bought for my brother (30) and since I'm a feeble woman, had to ask the opinion of a man who enjoys building model aircraft, he said it looks impressive, didn't like the price too much, but it was a present, hes impossible to buy for, he wanted a wooden ship and I like pirate ships, so yeah, he was impressed with it, loved the little (brass?) Canons and detail, should keep him quiet for a bit, it looks hard to put together

It was my first model and I enjoy building it very much. I decided use no colours to keep wooden look. Rigging was little bit difficult but very satisfying once it comes all together 🙂

A lovely kits. Easy to follow instructions. Double planked upper half of the hull. But sadly they don't supply the copper look wood to double plank the lower hull. And it can only be obtained from Mantua as Amazon and the shops don't stock it. The other let down is the lack of the lifeboat. This too has to be purchased separately.

Received today so only "out of box review". Very pleased with kit, very detailed instructions and materials look to be of good quality. First kit I have bought from Mantua but can highly recommend kit and supplier.
