flexiProfessional Lead, Giant, 10 m, Black

For any dog walker that allows their pooch to roam but wants the security of knowing they cannot take off, the Flexi leads are great. For the larger dogs, the smaller Flexi leads are really not strong enough so this lead known as The Professional (Giant) is available. We have been using them for over 40 years as they allow the dog total freedom to roam about during their walk and when you want then back, the lock prevents them going further and the strong spring pulls the lead back as the dog returns to you. The lead is in fact a strong tape made from black webbing and at the full extent, you have 10 metres to play with. The webbing and the housing will virtually last for ever but sadly not the spring which is the only reason we have needed to nuy new leads but that said it has only been 3 in over 40 years.It also is used for training as you can call your dog knowing he is secure but as many know, training goes for nothing with some breeds that deliberately go "deaf" if something is more interesting. It is also worth saying that not every dog walker is responsible and regretably some allow their dogs to run riot causing distress to some children and smaller dogs so the use of this long Flexi allows the dog total freedom until you want him back and you can prevent any unnecessary confrontations before they occur.The handle is strong and has a rubberised grip and if the webbing gets wet it is easy to pull out, lock open so it can dry.A great piece of equipment we would not be without.

I absolutely love this lead. I use this for my 6 month old 26kg German shepherd puppy when I am walking in open countryside and don't want him wandering off too far (recall not 100%, especially if he spots another dog). I use it with a bungee extension. It feels very sturdy and well made in the hand, and the 'brake' buttons are easy to use. The tape lead part is strong and I can't see it ever snapping or tearing. It doesn't ever seem to tangle in the undergrowth, and it doesn't trail through grass or mud. The 10m length is perfect to give the pup a sense of freedom without me worrying for his safety. It is heavyish, but you soon get used to it, and I actually find the weight oddly reassuring. If it should ever wear out, I wouldn't hesitate in getting another one.

Best flexi leads by far. Second, slightly longer purchase of this model, bought as too lazy / forgetful to transfer leads from home to car, so got a second longer one to keep in car!Original one have had for 3 years and still going strong, although not quite as new and bright as the new one!! Have previously had the other flexi with interchangeable ‘springy’ end and while fancier, are more flimsy and don’t last beyond a year. This one is more basic, but is actually more comfortable to carry as weight hangs down.10 m is great for trips where we don’t want to let our dog off as we don’t know the area (Husky, therefore no recall !) - but is definitely heavier and chunkier than the 8m, so that would be my first choice still for everyday / longer walks.Overall, excellent product and bright colour stands out on dark nights - happy repeat customer !

Can't over-emphasise the quality and ease of use of this sturdy lead. Took me all of minutes three to get the hang of operating a lead which is diametrically opposite to the extending lead it replaces - meaning that my old lead was 'locked' until pressing the button to release the lead, but the 'Flexi's' design is so much better.I like, very much, the inclusion of a secondary 'safety strap' which would come into play in the unlikely event of your main connection failing.The really strong and swift return spring is a real bonus; as others have mentioned, the lead remains taut even when the dog is running back towards you. This leads (pun not intended) to less tangles and foul-ups around the dog's legs.I have a boisterous and very strong (adult) English Springer, and he loves the 'freedom' of galloping around a large 'circle' when given free rein. Unfortunately he cannot be trusted completely off-lead off premises, so one needs a captive lead, and so far this one works like a dream.I don;t find it at all heavy or inconvenient to carry. It hangs naturally when the dog is walking or running politely, and feels absolutely secure in the hand when restraining.So, yes, 10 metres is a good length, but a 15 metre lead, for my use, would be better still.Go, buy with confidence - it's of German manufacture, ain't it?

One of my dogs is a hunter and will take off over fields if she sees a rabbit, and not come back, so I got this to keep her safe on country walks. I wanted to get as long a lead as possible in a retractable lead and I think this is it - and it does give her reasonable range. It seems strong and is easy to use. I like the bright yellow lead. The drawback is the huge handle and how heavy it is. My right arm is developing bigger muscles now I think! But I suppose that much lead is inevitably going to need a bigger spool and therefore a bigger handle to hold.
