A feast for garden birds!
My little garden birds absolutely adore their mealworms every day, especially the robins, bluetits and sparrows. However, once the starlings and magpies discover them, they will need protection as the big birds gobble up everything faster than I can refill bowls. The big birds do get a ration of them as well in different feeders. Everyone gets their treats! (Pigeons and squirrels will not eat them as they prefer seed and nuts). It is costing me a fortune and I’m not sure how sustainable this is as my tiny garden looks more like an aviary. I think all the birds in my neighbourhood are inviting everyone they know to the party! Even 4 pairs of robins seem to have organised a rota so they don’t attack each other! The mealworms are always packaged extremely well and arrive quickly and healthy. Sometimes they are big and other times they are tiny or a mixture of both. I keep them in a plastic vivarium tank and feed them crushed weetabix and porridge oats. For hydration they love sliced apples and pears. I also give them a sprinkling of Nutrigrub so the birds are supplemented with calcium. I tend to pick out the biggest ones with tweezers and store those in the fridge for feeding the birds with and allow the smaller ones to grow bigger at room temperature. I highly recommend these mealworms and seller.

Appealing snacks for baby bird season
I always feel a bit mean ordering these, but when it’s baby bird season what can you do? I’ve ordered these a few times from this company and have been very happy with them. They’ve arrived quickly and have all been alive on arrival (poor little guys) and have made literally hundreds of baby birds in my garden very happy.

Generous and very healthy worms - essential for feeding chicks
After the apocalyptic Spring and Summer of 2012 the bird population has dropped dramatically. The late Spring and continuing rain in 2013 is exacerbating the problem and there are many hungry chicks whose parents cannot feed them properly for lack of natural food. Chicks cannot be fed nuts or hard food, so soft live meal worms are the best alternative to the real thing. I have been buying these meal worms all 'Spring' on a very regular basis to help parents feed their chicks. They are devoured within minutes of putting them out, attracting starlings, great tits, blue tits, robins, blackbirds, goldfinches, and thrushes. I place them in a feeder I bought on this site, which is great for preventing larger birds getting at the food and also keeps the worms in one place, as they have a tendency to wriggle away. This is the link to the bird feeder http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0030MMJCM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I would recommend these meal worms because it is the only large size I have found at 1kg and is the best value. They arrive in a white sack filled with newspaper and an extra bag of sawdust to feed the worms. I keep it in the garden shed and once opened use one of those large food bag clips which seals it tight to prevent escape. Be careful that the worms don't eat their way out of the sack if you are not using them up quickly. It may be a good idea to place them in a bin liner to catch any escapees. Highly recommended as essential for baby chicks who need soft food and a must for serious naturalists who value our British birds.

Smaller than expected but ok
The mealworms were at the 20mm end of the 20mm to 30mm size range ordered. They came with a fine powder that may be bran and had thin white paper in the bags. The wild birds were happy with them.

Happy Birds
I have been ordering live mealworms for my wild birds for a number of years. The quality is always excellent and apart from one time when the worms must have been left too long in the sorting office. A new bag of mealworms was quickly sent out to replace. My birds have come to rely on this form of food particularly when the weather is so hot. I recommend this company.
