Surprisingly good light. Strongly recommend.
If you need a great flash light, this is it. It is expensive but you are getting an above average flashlight. If you are a hunter, I strongly recommend this light. It easily illuminates up to 100 yds. I like the size, quality, ease of use, durability, and battery life. Do recommend, would buy again.

Great flashlight
I really like the size of this flashlight, not too big or too small, and for 2000 lumens, it performs amazingly well. The USB-C rechargeable battery is a big plus, and it shines very brightly. The packaging also comes with clear instructions. I’m an airline pilot, and I tested it during a nighttime aircraft walk around. It lit up everything perfectly. Highly recommended for any fellow pilot who needs a reliable, powerful light.

Super bright, rechargeable, & reliable
Awesome bright light with different brightness settings and a rechargeable battery. I'm a fireman and this light is great. A little on the bigger side compared to other helmet lights, but with the 2,000 lumens its worth it for those low light situations when I need to see what I'm doing on the job. Sometimes its even too bright and I need to dial back the brightness so I'm not blinding everyone, but I'd rather have too bright than not bright enough. I went through several other cheaper options that all melted and fell apart in fires before I committed to spending the money on this flashlight. Sometimes cheaper is more expensive, so why not spend some money on a good light that will last. The battery life has been great as well. I've only needed to charge it a couple of times this year. The times I have charged it was mostly to top off the battery after spending hours fighting a fire at night or on a bad car wreck where I needed to use my helmet light to see, so I jave yet to completely drain the battery on this light. We run Streamlights at my department, so I knew I could count on Streamlight to make a reliable flashlight. No more watching Youtube videos on various flashlight brands, makes, and models to figure out your next purchase. Streamlight has not disappointed so far.

One-year update
June 16, 2024, eleven months pretty much to the day after receiving this light through Amazon, and all is not as well as one might hope. A couple of days ago the light started acting up, inexplicably going very dim on me, not turning on at all, etc.. I thought it must be a low battery, so I swapped the battery out for the fully charged one I always carry in my pocket, and the light's behavior did not change. Now, a couple of days later, the light is functioning mostly normally again, except that I seem unable to switch modes now using the ten-tap mode switching. I just did it successfully once or twice (I don't remember whether it was once or twice), but when I tried to do it a third time to get back to the program I prefer, the light had ceased to care that I was tapping the button ten times. I tap ten times, hold the tenth tap, and the light just happily stays on (it's supposed to dim and then shut off to acknowledge that the program has been changed, and which program it's been changed to). So, at least until it decides to spontaneously change its behavior yet again, the light is stuck in high-beam-only mode. I'm going to see if I have anyplace near me that can service Streamlight flashlights so I don't have to ship it to and from the company itself. =-=-= Original review: I never thought I'd be glad I lost my Surefire Fury Intellibeam, but this light kinda makes me feel that way. It lacks the cool Intellibeam technology that dimmed the light when you used it to read something so that the reflected light wouldn't blind you, but its max output was 1500 lumens to this light's 2000, and this thing is just so elegant and easy to use that I can feel better about having lost the Surefire because it gave me an excuse to buy this. Not only can you charge the battery without removing it from the light, but when you plug it in, a beautiful panel of rich red LED lights up on both sides of the charging port - big and impossible to miss, unlike the tiny red pinpoint of light on the Surefire's batteries. The battery's charging port is also USB-C, so no fiddling around trying to figure out which way the cord has to be plugged in – it can be plugged in either way, unlike the mini USB port and cable the Surefire had. I haven't used the light extensively yet, but I know from having had a Streamlight before that it's going to give me years of trouble-free service, and I'm looking forward to them.

Unbelievable!
I own two of the slightly smaller Streamlights and they take a lot of abuse and keep on going. Brightest flashlights I have ever owned. This model takes it to another level. At 200 yards it lights up the woods like daylight! Rugged, waterproof and easy to charge without taking the battery out, a nice feature from the older models. These flashlights get extremely hot after a few minutes. That is all I need to say about the power these Streamlight flashlights hold. Pricey but worth every penny!

Heavy and robust, fills the hand with metal.
I initially picked this light to try the somewhat controversial sliding port cover. The port cover is held in place by two possibly silicone O-rings (one is under the ring). Although useful, somehow have found this cover to slide out of place in use. I oiled the O-rings with PTFE oil to protect them from wear, and to promote water resistance. I found that if it sits for several minutes it settles and becomes harder to pull back accidentally, though some grip styles may inadvertently pull it back regardless. These orange-red o-rings may be silicone, so avoid silicone oil or grease. I noticed the tumbled aluminum can feel a bit slippery at times, but I haven’t dropped it yet as the shape helps it stay in hand. It feels heavy, and you can feel the presence in a pocket. The shape didn’t create large pressure spots on my leg even with my tight fitting pants like some lights have, but it was definitely noticeable, still not exactly a pocket light due to size and weight. The coating on the light is Type II Hard anodized, which is adequate, but falls short of some brands that have used type III Hard anodizing. In experience this translates to more wear. Scuffs from cement under a car, or riding next to gear like a knife will more easily show, yet can chip less due to being thinner and slightly more flexible. The tail cap is thick, which should handle drops well, and I appreciate the three protruding scallops on the back, as I broke a switch from a small floor on linoleum in the past. This will protect it from drops, but could hinder quick button presses. The light can tail stand very well, in fact I was able to charge it with a thick cord while it was tail standing. The grippy silicone boot collects pocket lint and dirt but should be rather wear resistant. When pressure is applied to the switch you can use momentary mode for quick use. When depressed fully the click is heavy feeling and audible from across the room, but is muffled enough to not be an issue in most uses. I tested the light in a foot of water for an hour and it seemed fine, but before I did this I lubed the dry orings. With the sliding cover I would hesitate to bring this underwater without care. For example, I wouldn’t let my child play with it in a pool like I have some lights. I cannot say how durable this light is, but it seems quite thick. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this for a mechanic for every day use. The battery is the proprietary SL-B50, which can be purchased on Amazon as a spare. I did buy the spare because it can take 5.5 to 6 hours to charge. Slower charging can aid in overall life and safety of the battery, but can be a pain when you need your light. The best part is you can charge the drained battery in a pack with a portable battery bank. At the most it pulled just under 5 watts when I charged it, perfect for plugging into a computer or even slow charging car USB ports. Streamlight doesn’t disclose what cell they use under the wrapper but they have a history of using quality cells such as Panasonic, Sanyo (owned by Panasonic), and Samsung. When inserting the battery you should rotate it so it fall into place if it is not mostly flush with the lip of the battery tube. Once In place, it will come into contact with two spring loaded bullet caps at the bottom (pictured). Spring loaded front and back is ideal to prevent battery damage from drops. I have personally crushed the end of a battery from a hard drop on concrete so it’s appreciated. The light can be partly disassembled which will show an aluminum reflector and white plastic (not pictured) to help center the led. You can remove the plastic piece to show a MCPCB board which is standard aluminum, with standard thermal paste (not thermal glue) meaning that with a bit of googling one could swap out the led and board with a better led. The led itself seems like a clone of the Cree XHP50/XHP50.2 or the luminous SST-70. I believe they were going for lumen per dollar vs nice tint. The beam on a white wall has noticeable tint shift, meaning the center is a cold blue white and turns to greenish hue and to a white. Not exactly ideal. In real world use this didn’t matter too much, but when I compared it to a light with good tint and high color rendering (being able to show colors accurately) it was noticeable, but otherwise won’t hinder every day use much I’m in being honest. It makes light. The ten tap is very useful. I set it in low, medium, High mode to prevent accidental melted holes in my pack. Though with a small twist of the tail cap you can lock out the light, meaning it won’t turn on even if the button is depressed. This is a good safety feature for storage as it can get hot, as all powerful lights do, but this can slow activation of the light. Would I purchase again? Yes, but it has room for improvement. Big battery and reflector head for big output
Another reviewer tried to express just how big the ProTac 2.0 is compared to Streamlight’s prior compact EDC torches. While the effort is greatly appreciated, for some reason the difference in size doesn’t fully translate. I was still surprised to see its actual size when it arrived today. Hopefully my photos, when combined with other reviews and their photos, will give you a full and complete impression of its actual size, eliminating any surprises. Torches, from top to bottom: ProTac 90, ProTac 2L, ProTac 2L-X, ProTac HL-X, Sidewinder Aviator, ProTac 2.0 (new). Batteries, from top to bottom: CR123, AAA, AA, 18650, SL-B50 (new, for ProTac 2.0). Last photo: ProTac HL-X on the left, ProTac 2.0 on the right. The ProTac 2.0 is equal to, or larger, in every dimension compared to the ProTac HL-X (mine is a 2-cell version). As for the torch itself, I can’t speak to its objective brightness but it’s clearly brighter than all of my other Streamlights. It’s easily bright enough to cause momentary blindness even on a sunny day, giving you one more weapon to use for escape or evasion. The build quality is exactly what you’d expect from Streamlight and it has TenTap programming to customize the activation order. My purchase was for the retail, boxed version that included just the torch, battery, USB-C charging cable and nylon belt pouch. Clearly, Streamlight cares about the total ownership experience, as they built their batteries with USB-C ports rather than MicroUSB. Lesser brands often use the latter to save a nickel, forcing you to carry a MicroUSB cable despite all of your stuff using USB-C for the past 5 years. As for the size, it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea as it outsizes even the HL-X. If that sounds like your situation, but would rather not compromise on brightness, Streamlight offers the 1800 lumen MegaStream to top out their MicroStream and MacroStream lineup. You may have to compromise a little on the beam width and distance, due to the MegaStream’s smaller head and reflector, but its total brightness and output should be a very close second to the ProTac 2.0 in performance while being a more familiar size that’s easier to pocket. I hope this helps those on the fence because of its size.
