The Illustrated Mum: Revisit the powerful and uplifting story from bestselling author Jacqueline Wilson

I found the illustrated mum a really gripping story because it's one of those books where it only just stretches reality making it seem realistic. I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 8. It could make a good bed time story for those budding book worms but I would say you enjoy it more if you're a bit older. I'm 11 and I enjoyed it so any age around there is perfect for this book. It is quite sad in places, hilarious in others and is exciting on every page. I would say it's more of a girl's book because it's done from a little girls point or view and is about her mum and sister and playing happy family's so it's only for the girls really. I hope this review has inspired people to read this book, it's defiantly worth a try even if it doesn't sound like your thing!!

I connected with this book as a child but as an adult I sobbed my way through it. Relatable, powerful and emotive. I hope Dolphin and Star and Marigold managed to see some happiness....bring on the sequel.

It was good but I want more Jacqueline Wilson books on kindle please do so I can read all off them books. They are all great by the way

The illustrated mum is a fantastic book. It is about two sisters who are having to cope with there mum who has a mental health problem. I personally think that Jacqueline Wilson has portraied this book so well that i would give it a million stars! I also think that Star is a very selfish person and is horrible to Dolphin and Marigold. I also love Oliver's and Dolphin's relationship as friends because Oliver understands Dolphin very well. I also love Michael and Dolphins relation ship as Michael wants to rebuild the relationship with Dolphin that she never had with him. I also think that Marigold is truly was trying her best to bring Dolphin and Star up and Star didn't want that. This book is a fantastic read and portrays the struggle of bringing children up when you have mental health issues.

yes or no i am going to say maybe good things about the book 1.u did not know what was going to happen next 2.i love the way there mum is different 3.the girls names were different 4.the lady upstairs was a "cow" bad things about the book 1.what do u mean flexed her mussels to make the dolphin move 2.micky actually came and didn't give a hoot about there mum 3.why did mum end up in her least fav place in the world 4.it came in bad bad condition spine ripped but........ i dont know so.........3

Reliable

I read this book when I was 10(ish?) and I'm not 100% sure I understood it and I read the first chapter of the new one and downloaded this one. Holy crap I do not remember it!! i felt really sad for Dolphin & Star :( it really didn't occur to me how young they were until I read it now (23). It's a tough read icl. Quite upsetting. I think it was good that I read it so young tho cuz it gave me a different perspective on other kids lives but holy moly it made me sad now :(
