I've been looking for a hot air rework station for a while now. I have one of those cheaper setups that have the fan and everything included in the handle itself. I never could quite get used to working with it. I looked at the Quick and Atten suggested by Louis Rossman and almost bought that one. For some reason though, this one kept drawing my attention. It was 1300 watts as opposed to 1000. It was a bit cheaper and I really liked the stand that comes with it. I am not disappointed at all. This thing feels heavy duty. It heats up almost instantly. The control I feel with this vs the cheap ones is night and day. First thing I did was build a little smd solder project using just this. Normally I would build something like that with a standard soldering iron. By the time I finished the little kit, I think I can solder faster with this station than an iron. I started at 450c and 50% air. By the end, I was at 375c and 25% air. Turns out I needed way less than I previously thought. You just point the nozzle at the solder pad and it melts almost instantly. I have some scrap boards that have balled chips on them. I'll be playing around with that next. While I'm not an expert on rework stations, I am an very well versed on good quality tools in this field. I would buy another one without hesitation if I needed one. Recommended.

Shows 500 on the temp readout, but doesn't melt anything (kester 44) after only 6 months of use. Update #1: changed from 1 to 3 stars, it needed a new heating element, it comes with two in the package. Unfortunately the only place I can find replacements is AliExpress. For comparison, I had a super cheap rework station before this one that I used for two years with the same element, so I think 6 months is still not great, hence 3 stars, otherwise the station is decent. It does take a little longer than I expected to come up to temp after removing the handle from the cradle. Update #2: The second heating element that came with the station died after about 4 months of use. I installed the replacement element I got from AliExpress, and it because a completely different unit! Heating took a few seconds instead of minutes, air flow is better, and heat is more precise. With correctly functioning heating elements this is a 5 start unit, without them it is mediocre at best. Both elements that came in the box with my machine had serious issues and failed quickly.
