Scrabble is such a classic game that any board game lover is bound to have it in their cupboard. We finally added it to ours & it became the best game played over the Christmas period. It's easy to pick up & fun to play. We also loved the addition of the app that helps with scoring! All in all, a brilliant game!

Scrabble itself needs no introduction: it is a classic that definitely has a lasting appeal. This review just looks at this particular 'original' edition of the game. The game I received does not come in a blueish box and does not have a blue / green board.The green game box is marginally thicker than the average cereal box. Yet, despite Amazon posting the game in a paper bag without any padding, the game arrived in good condition without any dented corners.However, the green playing board itself is extremely flimsy. Even before I unfolded it, the paper print covering the fold line was already torn on both sides, back and front. There was a lot of resistance when first unfolding the board and although it did not tear further, it will likely just be a matter of time before we will have 2 halves.The 100 tiles are made of off-white plastic but they seem sturdy. I do not mind that they are not solid (they are hollowed out at the back) - the less plastic, the better. The 4 letter racks do the job and seem sturdy enough. The bag is a basic green cotton drawstring bag. It seems durable enough but perhaps the opening is a little narrow for bigger hands.Overall, production quality of the box and playing board is very poor; definitely a game produced on the cheap. The box boasts the slogan a 'BRAND Crossword Game'. With this production quality, I am surprised Mattel Games wanted to have their brand name printed on the box in the first place - it does not do them any favours.I suppose, given the price (£10.99, Black Friday Deals 2022), not much can be expected. If you intend to play this game intensively and like your board games to last, I suggest you buy a deluxe version of this game.

Bought as gift fir 10 year old to play with the family.Saw in the sales yesterday more expensive so doubly oleased.
