I follow Kristen Bateman on Instagram. I really like her insightful writing and videos on fashion and style. When I saw that she had written a book about NYC style I placed a pre-order. The book arrived just now, and I promptly dived in. As a Manhattanite I’m thoroughly interested in the fashion/style in the city and how it is ever changing. A lot in One Book!
Good read that covers the many facets of New York style. Interesting facts and historical context throughout, as well as noting diverse contributions to New York style. Well organized with good selection of photo references.

Purchased this and the Paris Style book and both have multiple pictures like the ones I posted above... 9.59 and Amazon won't let me return this detective book...Not Happy Amazon!!!!

The author does a great job delving into key trends new, old and new again! She captures the diverse people, brands, and key moments in New York fashion that define the city's style. Also worth noting, the author is a style icon in her own right and I've seen her featured in Vogue street style regularly and writes for all the major fashion magazines. A must have for the fashionista in your life, or those who want to become well versed in New York style and fashion.
