FANICHI Acacia Wood Round Dinner Plates, 11in (Set of 4)

I believe these are the most beautiful plates I've ever owned. When I picked up the box, I was taken aback at the weight, knowing the contents was just 4 plates. They are very sturdy, stunning, a great size, easy to care for, easy to clean. When properly taken care of, I should think they would last a long time. I have a lot of bamboo, and acacia wood products that I care for all the same. I wash them by hand as I don't have a dishwasher. I dry them as soon as I get them washed. Then, I have a food grade oil for use on bamboo and other natural woods, that I coat them with. It's leaves a beautiful luster on them that the wood absorbs. It leaves no taste or residue on your dishes. I leave them sitting on the drying mat for a few minutes, then wipe them a second time to make sure that I didn't over oil them, as I don't want oil on my tablecloth. They always look the way they do the day they arrived. I don't use the plates if we're having steak or anything that requires a lot of abrasive cutting, but that's by choice. I use my Pfalzgraf dinner plates for anything that's going to require heavy cutting. I use my wooden plates for fork-soft foods like casseroles and such, or most breakfast foods. They are beautiful, high-quality plates that I love and recommend.

These wood plates are made with natural acacia wood, with very nice craftsmanship. They are definitely a step above most wood plates for serving food and entertaining, with a base rim at the bottom of the plate, lifting it slightly, so it does not sit flat like most cheaper and disposable wood plates. They have a nice thickness and are not thin, and much lighter than ceramic plates. They are indeed 11” as described. My only complaint was the foul smell, like rotting wood or very strong chemicals were used on the finish of these plates. They were wrapped air tight with very heavy shrink wrapping to protect them from any damage during shipping, to be sure.....it was successful and the plates came without so much as a scratch. I washed them with hot water and soap without success. The smell was just as potent and foul. I laid them on air racks overnight on the kitchen counter and through the next day. By the third day the smell was almost completely gone, and had only a slight smell of natural wood. After washing again and rubbing a very light coat of food-grade mineral oil on each plate, which enhanced the colors and beautiful wood grains, they were perfect. I would highly recommend these natural well crafted plates for serving elegant summer fare.
