Great Reference Book to have on the Shelf every year to have quick access to updated information & history

Great book

While definitely an authoritative reference source for all types of info, the one thing I wish the editors would add is an extended, more detailed, Table Of Contents. As is it is, the current TOC takes up less than 1 pg. to address over 1000 pages of diverse info. Luckily, the book does have a 22-pg Index to help you find desired subject matter. I just think, though, that with all the years this thing has been (and will continue to be) published, some effort could be made to update the TOC, with the aim of expanding it to be a more useful tool.

I started getting these books back in 1985. I read most if not all the facts in them over the years and started receiving them as Christmas gifts. I would continue to get them year after year from a bookstore in town until they closed it down last year in 2023. When I looked in here, I was overjoyed to fine one for 2024. I love reading the history of the past year, see sport stats, census in city and towns throughout the U.S., reading about people who are no longer with us and many, many other interesting facts. I have 33 books and just received my 34th to my collection. I hope to continue this for years to come

This is a great book! I have purchased these over the years but never the hardbound version. Larger format, seems text is larger, but the binding makes it a durable, long term investment. Makes it very enjoyable to leaf through this version because the pages are easier to read, the photos are vibrant, and the binding helps it to open "flatter" than the paperback version. This would make a great gift for the information hungry person in your life. A great alternate to being "logged in" every time you want to look up a fact, or just to browse information, maps, tables, etc.
