The product instructions are poor. After getting it working for a short time it stopped a few weeks later. It won’t register the remote anymore

Perfect for our stereo receiver operation positioned in our enclosed cabinet.

I placed my A/V, Xfinity box, etc. into the walk in closet of our third bedroom with the door closed, threaded wire through my wall pass through, and it worked perfectly. I tried a "$10 receiver, (wire w/ plastic knob on end)", that one would try first, plugged it into the back of A/V, pointed my remote, and NOTHING. That's when you start researching a simple fix and learn it will be a costlier fix (Not really, there is no price one can put on a non-responsive A/V unit.) After much time you learn that you plugged a "3 ringed RECEIVER plug into your A/V's 2 ringed NON-active MONO plug! That's where this product comes in. It plugs into the ELECTRICAL WALL PLUG, getting that strong active signal of electricity and sends it to your A/V unit in a way that it can't be ignored. Find your barely visible A/V IR Sensor spot on its Front panel. I pulled up my A/V's Manual on internet, found front panel diagram, and found out where my IR SENSOR resides. Remove the small circle of paper off the back of one round sensor and press it firmly on top of this A/V sensor area for as long as your finger can stand it. Now place the receiver unit near your TV viewing area, so that you can point your remote at it. It flashes, telling you the signal was clearly received, as your speakers increase/decrease in volume! Done.

Worked perfectly to control my sound system outside of the AV room

Literally the first time I’ve ever written a review. I HATE setting up all the entertainment components and inevitably something doesn’t work quite right or involves some rigging up that I didn’t want to do. ANYWAY - I bought this so that I could put all the ugly component boxes in my beautiful cabinet below the tv and shut the door. This RF/IR converter took 5 minutes to set up. I stuck the sensors on my Onkyo receiver, Direct TV box, and Appletv box. Works perfectly.
