I bought this for a project to make a security webcam out of a Raspberry Pi. You have to buy a separate power supply for the fan and heating element. I purchased an "Elk TRG2440 24VAC, 40 VA AC Transformer with PTC Fuse" here on desertcart for that purpose. After that, all you need is an appropriate length of cable (I used a two strand doorbell wire from Home Deport). The main housing and support arm are all metal. The face plate and back plate are plastic, but sturdy. Overall, the entire housing is sturdy and should hold up well to the weather, including hail. Inside is very versatile for mounting your security camera or project. Mine came with absolutely no instructions, but there is not a lot to it. I suspect if you are buying this, you are handy enough to figure out how to connect two wires for the heating/cooling and run your cables through the water-tight access point. There is a removable/sliding plate inside for mounting your camera. You'll need to come up with your own hardware. The fastener department at Home Depot, a couple carriage bolts, some flat rubber washers and two flared nuts did the trick for me. I'm very happy with this purchase for my project/purpose. Review: one Stars - very lightweight worth the money. worked for 3 months and died.

Very well-made but....
I really like this housing. It is well-built and is not unattractive. The only area it is SLIGHTLY lacking is on the bottom. The protective nut that allows wires through and seals the housing from water is not large enough to pass a USB plug through. MANY cameras are now USB. My solution was to pass all my wires through and then seal the heck out of it with clear silicon.

Great enclosure
I needed some enclosures for my D-Link DCS-2000 cameras so I could monitor some blind spots around my home. There was very little information about the size of this enclosure, but the useable internal dimensions are roughly Length:8 inches, Width 4.5 inches, Height 3.5 inches (roughly, might be a tad taller). My DCS-2000 fits perfectly in this (See customer images). This does indeed come with a 24v AC heater and blower and the mounting arm/bracket. This unit also has weather stripping/gaskets to keep out the elements. I believe the main body of this is plastic, but the shroud cover over it appears to be metal. If you plan to use this with a network camera, it might behoove you to look at the D-Link DWL-P200 Power Over Ethernet Adapter so that you can avoid running the power cable for the camera. You will still need to run a 24V AC ( Class II Transformer - 24 Volt AC, 40 VA, UL/CSA Approved : MGT-2440 or Elk TRG2440 24VAC, 40 VA AC Transformer with PTC Fuse ) for the heater/blower. There are also 24V AC panels if you want to do a traditional wiring setup. I bought this enclosure for a test, and it worked out so well that I will be buying 4 more for a total of 5.

VERY WELL BUILT
great housing for any indoor box cam that you want to make it into an out door cam. PROS: * aluminum housing * heater and fan * up to a 11" camera * glass lens CONS: * 24VAC (bad because i was running a 12vdc camera, but there are 12vdc housings to) * screws that are included might rust quick i would recommend this, and i will be buying some more soon!!!!

Nice enclsure
This is my first enclosure so can't compare to other brands. Easily holds my Samsung SBC-200 camera and since the camera position is adjustable inside the case there isn't vignetting of the image when using a 4MM lens. Heating wasn't as much of an issue as the cooling (I'm in Tucson) As far as weather sealing the camera. If I added weather stripping or silicone, then I would also impeed the cooling function of this case, as there is no separate fan exhaust except through the gap between the top and bottom halves. Maybe there are other housings that have a louvered back plate?

Excellent camera case
Have installed serval weeks ago and not much could be easier to use. Very well constructed now that cold cooler weather is coming I will be able to see if the heaters are able to do the job.
