great size, great country look
Wish I had seen this option for a butter dish before. No more dirty lids to go on top of the butter. Simply open and drop the butter in the pot and place the lid on top of the pot. Unlike missing the exact spot for the lid to go, and by accident messing up the butter as with the regular butter dishes!.Carries the normal 250g and the larger 500g which is really handy.

Have been looking for a deep butter dish for ages ...
Have been looking for a deep butter dish for ages and came across this. Looking at a variety of deep dishes in store I don't think lids are actually made to fit properly on any dish design. However, this lid has a little lip so feels "secure" (note this doesn't mean it's a snug fit) on dish if you are moving it around. Lovely and deep so no messy butter on rim or lid.

The 1lb butter dish
The actual dish itself is a strong enough item or appears to be, the lid, I'd like to be a bit heavier given that it's it that takes the most abuse lifting on and off. I had to cut a slice off the end of the butter and I put it on the top the lid will still sit on it so it worked that way. It was well enough packed and came on time. I bought the cream coloured one and it is a butter colour if that makes sense.

Butterful (lol) Thumbs up from me!
Butterful dish! I've been looking for the right one for ages! Fits a 250g tub of butter nicely. Its nice and deep but not so you can't get the butter out. It's a lovely cream colour with an 'oldy worldly' look that fits perfect in my kitchen on the wood tops and cream tiles. Delivered well packaged. Great value for money. Highly recommend.

Colour very different to the picture
Very sturdy and well made but COLOUR MISLEADING. It is a much deeper yellow colour than the picture portrays - more of a buttermilk than pale neutral cream. Sadly does not blend well with my cream appliances etc.

Better than plastic tubs
Really nice and does the job. I wanted to stop buying butter in plastic tubs and this is perfect, keeps the butter spreadable as it doesn’t seem to need to be kept in the fridge, even on hot days it hasn’t melted.

Loooks the part but quite fragile
Really like the look of this and the size (large enough to take large blocks) and as other reviewers have said you're not constantly washing the lid. BUT it's very, very fragile. My first one arrived smashed in the box but the seller responded immediately and it was replaced no fuss. Replacement has been in use for just a couple of weeks now and today I took the lid off and put it down on the worktop upside down and a corner just chipped off. Didn't drop it it just fell away. Hubby has managed to glue back on and it's been used so can't really send it back but just be aware it's as fragile as china.... Wouldn't risk dishwasher with it either as too thin.

Gorgeous, but doesn't fit our 1lb butter blocks
It's a lovely looking butter dish, but sadly, it does not fit our 1lb blocks of butter.I bought this for a friend who is specifically looking for a butter dish with the lid on top that can fit a 1lb butter block, and this came very close (as you can see in the photo), but it's just not wide enough. The height and depth are fine, so if you're happy with trimming the end of your butter, then it'll do the job. Which I guess is what I'll be doing now as I'll be on the hunt for a different dish for my friend ;)I probably should have measured a butter block and compared to the dimensions listed, but I was going off other reviewers saying that it would be fine. I guess our butter has slightly different dimensions!
