Great corner filter that does the job
I wanted a filter for my tank that could be put in and removed with a low clearance (we have a shelf almost directly above the tank with an attached light on the bottom of the shelf). This filter did the job. With hangover the side filters, I couldn't get them out to clean easily (it's a 20 gallon tank). This stays to the back corner, out of the way and the noise level is fine - all dependant on your water level as far as the splashing sound. Motor sound we not bad at all. The suction power is definitely not lacking. Many times I had to use a knife just to pry the edge of a suction off the glass wall to get it off. Better to have better suction than not! This was so easy to clean and kept the water clean. I loved the adjustable water flower at the top and the ability to have more bubbles/air go in, or less. The 'rain arm' feature was nice as well. I would definitely recommend this filter for all it brings and all the boxes it checks off. It was a good value (it's still running well over a year later) and is functioning how one would hope and expect!

mini water pump
Works fantastic in my 5gallon aquarium.

Works well but be ready to get wet and dirty with maintenance
Installled this in a 20 gallon planted tank and added an air pump since it had the inlet feature which is nice. It moves the water well and filters really good. Only gripe is cleaning the filter media. Removing it and cleaning everything out and putting it back is a task and disturbs the tank more than I like. May have to modify my lid so that I can put an over the back filter which is more convenient and less bothersome to the tank.

No filter cartridges for sale for this model
I have a planted nano tank and the internal built-in filtration was comical, so I looked for a submersible filter and found this model. Hygger makes awesome lights. Pass on this. They don’t even make the replacement filter cartridges for this that I could find anywhere. Cartridges usually aren't my thing since better filter floss can be used instead at a savings, but for this model, the filter is kind of sensitive and doesn't seem to want to work without the stock cartridges. That they don't seem to sell at the moment. Today I rinsed off the filter media for re-using and it was nearly black so I cut filter floss I use for larger aquariums and then the filter stopped working. I threw the filter pretty far and now I need a new one. I would pass on this. Frustrating!

Great little filter
For the price and size, a very good filter. Silent and powerful. Easy to clean. If it makes noise, check the impeller.

The loudest rattling internal filter I ever had
I own the model just above this one in another of my tanks and even though, it is not the most silent filter, it does not rattle as loud as this one does. I have no idea why it is so loud, when it starts, right out of the box, it goes with the expected hum and then about 30 seconds in, it rattles so loud that I just want to throw it away, I cannot use this in an aquarium set right next to my working desk. I may keep it as an emergency one or ask for a return, not decided yet. Update 19 June 2024: Hygger reached to me directly after the initial review and sent me a new filter to try and make sure I did not receive a lemon but, this new filter pump is as noisy as the one I received initially. In the attached video taken with an iPhone (which reduces automatically environmental noises), you will have to raise the sound quite a bit to hear it. Once you hear the rattling, it is the actual level of sound it produces in real life. At the end of the video, I switch it off and pane out to the other hygger filter I own which is the model just above and it is mostly silent. When comparing the impeller assembly of both models, the higher model does have a noise cancelling assembly keeping the impeller for moving up and down which this model is not equipped with.

Needs cleaning too often.
At first I really loved this filter. It was strong and did the job admirably. However aft 5 to 6 months it went from having to be cleaned out once a week to twice a week or every 3rd day, which is a pain. I would not buy again.

Excellent Filtration and Quiet (Ignore Frequently Returned Warning)
I use this filter in both 6 gal and a 3 gal aquariums. They are powerful and quiet. The best filters I've had. I like that it has the option for 3-tiered filtration but it works so well that I may forgo carbon altogether to reduce using pre-filled cartridges. I use Seachem products and my water is pristine and healthy. As you can see in the video, I use the waterfall feature. I put in the lowest flow setting. The current doesn't sink food or disturb the fish. I have a Betta and 3 Tetras in my second aquarium and the current doesn't bother the Betta either. I tested three filters before deciding on the Hygger filters. The other two were ZooMed Betta Clean and Penn-Plax Cascade 300. I wanted internal filters. Unfortunately , the noise and water flow of these two models weren't to my liking. I was concerned that the Hygger filter is listed as a frequently returned item but I'm glad I decided to try it out. It's definitely an option worth exploring.

The filter seems good but amazon shipped me a 115V product which isn't compatible to the UAE's 220-240V electrical supply, I had to purchase a step down converter on top of this filter which is an additional unit running, which makes it inefficient and costs me more to operate it.

THIS MODEL WAS NEEDED TO PERFORM IN A LARGER TANK AND OUR OTHER UNITS COULD NOT MATCH IT'S FUNCTION.

Quiet. Can’t adjust flow, but can adjust direction of flow. Would purchase for another tank.

Works as advertised and on time.

I did not receive a filter cartridge and filter foam with the filter. Am I expected to buy them separately? If yes, thats very bad. Cartridge and foam should be included as its useless without them. If they are missed out, how do I receive them?
