Theses work great for after the item has been "canned. Don't work for processing but after that the metal bands do become rusty sometimes. These plastic ones are great replacements and the multi sided grips make for easier opening and closing!

Now I take my empty jar (with inexpensive canning lid and new leakproof ring), fill it with water at the airport and just add a packet of drink mix. Such a simple solution!

I use the Mason Baby straw lids with my toddler, but if she throws/drops them on the ground, the metal bands get dented and then leaks happen. I decided to invest in some plastic bands… so I have tried a few styles. Even other bands claiming to be durable have ended up cracked pretty quickly. These have really been holding up! My 6yo did drop a jar out of the fridge recently and the band cracked, but it saved the jar so that’s a win. Overall with the number of drops we’ve had, I’ll take a loss of one. These are the best on the market that we’ve found! Also from a good company.

I purchased these because the standard issue steel bands were constantly rusting and getting expensive to replace. I can't yet speak to the long term durability, but so far these bands have been easy to clean (top rack dishwasher) and easy to remove! I have worsening arthritis in my hands and the angular sides of the band make gripping easier despite the surface being so smooth. I mainly use these for making cold brew and have yet to see any leaks or staining. I'll definitely buy more of these in the future!

Lacto-fermentation is a food preservation method using SALT and lactic acid bacteria to preserve food. When using salt regular jar lid rings can rust. I’ve had to throw away countless rings over the years due to rust. I still use regular metal rings for canning food the normal way, but now when I ferment food, I use these plastic rings. No more rust!

I got these to replace the metal bands on our regular sized Ball jars and they fit perfectly. The jars hold refrigerator pickles so they have not been used for canning.
