That an error by amazon or the person who originally listed the item. It doesnt actually say on the box how many parts there are, but its not a big model, so probably less than 200 parts.

Q: Are the instructions only in german as stated, or is there an english version provided too?

The instructions are mostly diagrams but there is English on there. I wouldn’t recommend the kit though, it’s not very good.
