Great rub for smoked meats

This and THE BBQ RUB are my family's favorite rubs. Works best on chicken & pork but also good on beef, turkey, and game meat. Forms a nice bark when cooking low/slow and color is excellent. When mixed with THE BBQ RUB it's a mellow spice so won't offend heat-intolerant guests. It's a bit saltier than THE BBQ RUB but I don't use it by itself, always as an extra layer of seasoning, so overall saltiness can be controlled with my base layer of salt/pepper/garlic.

We purchased this seasoning on a friend's recommendation for chicken wings. We now use it on everything!! My husband get's so excited when I use it days in a row. Extremely flavorful. You do not need to add anything else. The HOT is misleading a little bit- It has a small kick (more flavorful than spicy), with some sweetness as well. I'm not a fan of spicy anything, yet I love this rub! I'll lick it off my fingers. Definitely bang for your buck, it's a nice size.

I tried this on a brisket and it was definitely a bump up from my normal flavors and color. Trying it on pork next. This will be a rub I keep on hand. It’s not overly hot so don’t let the titling dissuade you. Good stuff!

As you probably guessed by my buying 5 pounds of this rub I like it. The ONLY negative thing I could possibly say about this rub would be that having HOT in big letters does this a disservice. It IS NOT really all that "Hot" when compared to other rubs labeled 'Hot'. And especially not as hot as some of the other rubs we like in the south that have tones of Tabasco in the forefront. This is a GREAT all-around base layer rub, especially for pork products like ribs or Boston butts. Gives good color 'cause Malcom does love his Paprika. :) And you can layer other rub on top to create any flavor profile you want. And it is a good chicken rub for wings when your guests can't really handle a truly hot rub. Just enough tang to know it is there without causing people to go soak their heads in the tub to put out the fire. Get the 5 pound bag as it is LITERALLY half the price of the rub in the small shaker bottle. And yeah, you will use it.

I love smoking pork shoulders and this is my go to. I use it every time and I feel that it keeps tasting better and better. I use it for chicken breasts and wings as well. Killer Hogs is fantastic and a must buy!!!
