I've never heard of this company and can't find any information on them. Are they legit?

No, they aren't legit. This is the only product they sell. The manufacturer's address listed on the bottle is a residential address. There is no website. I found this out when I started researching them, because when I cut open the capsule, I found only oil, no lactoferrin that I could tell. When I tried contacting them about this, they sent back a generic response and never responded again.

Is this similar to colostrum from cows?
