Direct replacement for Ford Ecoboost Focus/Fiesta
You might be reading this looking at your options for replacing a Ford 60amp EFB stop start battery that tend to last around 5 years or so. The Ford 2 033 186 or Varta VO22A. This Yuasa 7096 fits perfectly with the benefit of slightly uprated performance being 75amp. It was delivered quickly, in perfect condition by UPS. Changing a modern car battery can be problematic. They want you to go to the dealership, saying don't disconnect the car as you might lose all your settings etc. but, pay £300, or do it yourself for around £100 and about half hour. I lost my engine settings, but the car quickly re-learns as that's what the ECU does anyway. You barely notice. No other info was lost. I've got no idea on the longevity of this battery, hopefully it's at least 5 years, but I see no reason it won't be. My car will be changed long before then. If like me you have a MK4 Focus you will need to unseat the air filter to give you clearance to slide the battery, but easy if you were started with cars from the 70s and 80s like me when you did all this sort of stuff. Battery seems perfect.

Replacement for Ford Focus Mk4.5 MHEV
I had this battery installed for a few months now. However, I just became aware that there is a small red vent plug on side near the top. I think this is in place to stop leakage during transit. Anyway I contacted Tanya and they advised to remove plug. It came out quite easily with my fingers. I guess this is a vent in case any gases build up inside the battery!!!! Well this arrived a few days earlier than the expected delivery day. I was going to get this from Halfords which includes fitting but its about a £150+++ more including the cost of fitting and the inflated price for the battery, So I did a bit of research and found a German chap MyFordFocus doing a similar change on YouTube. Also found a chinese guy removing battery from a Ford Focus mk4 on Facebook- 2019 Focus #mk4 and another YouTube video' How to Change Battery On Ford Focus MK4' OZ Sabra. Also very useful was steps specified on Ford owners club byWarhawkCZ. This gave me confidence to replace the factory fitted battery on my Ford Focus 1.0 with this battery. Like many owners I experience a battery saving message which results in various electronic functionality being unavailable or reduced. Such as the air con not working or the courtesy lights not working to the passenger side touch lock not working etc. I got to the point of keeping a torch in the car. So that I could see what I was doing on dark evenings. Apparently this is the way the car is designed with an aggressive Battery Management System or BMS that inhibits the functionality of electric equipment in the car when it thinks the battery is getting low. This is apparently to help conserve fuel and extend battery life. Not sure it makes much difference - as in all my previously cars I did not have this kind of BMS thing and was able to use electric functions in the car such as air con , radio etc without restriction and without any problems for the battery. Having now fitted this new battery I am hoping it will improve things. I have also used Forscan to set the soc from 80% to 90%. (I might set it to 95% in the winter). I am hoping this will give me more battery reserve to use the electric equipment in the car when desired. I still expect that if I leave the car unused for a 'while ' that the system will go into sleep mode and save my car battery from draining any further. That s what it does now but the time in which this happens should hopefully be extended. Fitting DIY style was relatively easy(after I used a smart charger to charge the battery up). I had to remove the air filter housing as shown in the various videos above. Also I had to remove a plastic spacer at the bak of the battery tray to accommodate this battery which is slightly wider. When I finished fitting and got back into the car the only setting I noticed that had changed was that my dash menu had defaulted back to hybrid gauge and I had it previously set to MPG consumption. All other setting such as mobile phone connection, radio stations, miles instead of km and temperature indicator remained in celsius - touch wood!!! My Focus mk4.5 MHEV does not have any indicator from the dash that shows me when the system thinks the battery is OK I could use such a status indicator to let me know when I can enjoy the full functionality of the car or when it has shut these systems off. Very frustrating!!!! I think I might get one of those voltage indicators that plug into the 12v cigar lighter that might serve this purpose so that I can get feedback when the car is ready to use its full functionality or when its in restricted mode. I will have to drive my car for a while in order to establish what impact the new battery has on the the behaviour of the car. Hopefully it will be much better as reported by other Focus owners doing the same battery change. I will update the review in due course......... update 14 Jul... Well I drive a 14 mile trip every few days 2 or 3 times a week. I do no more than 5k a year. So far the car is operating well with full functionality. I do have the ford pass connectivity turned off as this is a potential drain of valuable battery reserve. Also I am thinking of using reduced guard for the alarm (ie turn off internal sensors - car insurance don't seem to be concerned). However, I think the system still sends data back to Ford by stealth using up some battery to do so!!! Its summer and the temperatures have been good. Over the winter the battery will face a bigger challenge(hence soc of 95%). Also there may be a holiday period where I leave the car parked up for a couple of weeks so this will be interesting as it should go into deep sleep/battery saver then. But that's a good thing to mitigate the risk of your battery draining away more quickly!!! I'll do another update longer term.... Update 29th Sept.... Well most of the the time I get in the car even after a few days of it sitting in the drive and everything works fine ... The passenger door touch lock, interior lights, air con etc. A couple of occasions I was working on cleaning out the boot and had the boot open for a while. Next time I got into the car it was apparent that car had gone into sleep/restricted functionality. However, after a short drive the functionality was restored quickly whereas previously I had to drive 1000s of miles to reinstate such functionality. Also I went on holiday late Sept (so still warm temps) and left the car parked at the airport for 11 days. I was a bit jet lagged after returning to my car at the end of the holiday and all I can recall was opening the car using the touch control on the passenger side and it worked. I didnt stop to take note if the interior lights came on!!! However, another family member on holiday with me returned home to find when they got in their car (also a Ford Focus mk4.5 MHEV with the same battery upgrade) the next day and the interior lights didn't come on- so that must have gone into sleep mode after eleven days. Its likely that different systems get turned off at different thresholds of battery charge - although I can't find any details about this in my car manual. If I leave the car standing for about 5/6 days then the car will enter sleep/battery saver mode. That's a good thin to make sure I can still start the car. However, I only need a short drive to restore it back to regain functionality of the car. (Previously it seemed like I had to drive to the moon to achieve this). I am not sure what voltage the battery is receiving when it is being restored (although for a short time) from sleep mode, I hope it is not too high and stressing the battery. Previous cars - I rarely had a problem with the 12v battery and it generally lasted the entire time I owned the car - say 6 years. These Ford cars could really could do with dashboard feedback so the driver could tell when the battery was in sleep mode (rather than relying on some smart phone app)!!!

Absolutely Amazing
Delivered a day earlier than expected , easy to fit and has transformed the car. Even increased fuel efficiency ( not sure if the car was drawing more power to try to replenish the old worn out Battery) . Absolutely would 100% recommend and over £40 cheaper on Amazon than a national car parts supplier
