Q: I connected everything correctly the only thing i only have 2 wires brown and blue in my floor lamp no earth. the light did switch on. what do i do?

Hi, All our metal lamp holders MUST be earthed for safety reasons. With no safety earth to trip either an RCD or fuse in the event of the live or neutral wire coming loose inside and moving from the insulation of the ceramic insert to touch the metal of the lamp holder, electric shock will occur. Either (as someone else has mentioned) re-wire the lamp with 3-core wire that does have an earth, or alternatively, replace the metal lamp holder with a plastic one that doesn't require an earth. Q: Hi, received the holder today but can’t unscrew the bottom piece to get in the wires, afraid I will break it ?

The screw threads may have become forced together when it was assembled. Try some spray oil and use a bit of force with some pliers if available. It should not break but be careful not to crush its shape. Another trick is to leave it somewhere hot to allow joints to expand and free themselves but don't burn yourself as metal is a good heat conducted. Hope you are successful. Stephen could

Looks good and seems a decent quality , I bought this to make a lamp from reclaimed wood and copper pipe and the brass is a good look , 1 downfall is the earth connection is on the top which in my opinion will cheapen the final finish

For replacement fitting in a ceiling lamp.The threaded fitting was compatible with my ceiling lamp so was easy to fit.

Nice weight better than I thought it would be actually looks old so would have been great as fitting in a old standard lamp.Unfortunately the screw threads on the unit were not the right size. I can not see the thread size mentioned so going to be always bit hit or miss. I should mark it down but am prepared to try and make it fit as like the look of it.

Well made, nice ceramic insert ............

.........so won't melt or crack with higher wattage bulbs or halogen bulbs which run very hot. Didn't use the lock screw as I worried about it creating a sharp edge and digging into the live cable, just locked it on the 10mm thread mount with superglue
