My boys (ages 6 and 7) are mad about chess and compete in tournaments. I bought this set to make my life easier when we go out as it appeared very light. As soon as my boys clapped eyes on it, they fell in love with the colours and the magnetic magic. We have about 6 boards of chess at home but they play on this at least 2ce daily. Perfect for car journeys as no danger of pieces flying all over the place and fits in my bag. At a recent tournament, quite a number of the other kids looked longingly at the board, no doubt wishing they had similar ones to practise on. I had a few enquiries from parents.. A word of advice - remember to include a couple or so of extra pieces from other sets before leaving home because if you (or your kids) are anything like my boys, a game is not complete without multiple 'queens' on the board. This set's rooks don't stay overturned. I'm giving durability 4 stars because there's a dent already from a fall, so I expect a few more over time. Also one of the queens magnetism isn't strong enough so just about stays on when jolted.

This is a super product: well designed and does what it says and I need. The board is a decent size whilst being portable from room to room or on holiday. The pieces are light and attractive in gold and silver and the magnetism holds them in place if I jog the board or have to move it. Having it always on the table will encourage me to practise and keep a game on-going (something I have always wanted to do.) Terrific value and easy on the eye.

This travel chess set is really good. Good design : Its important that chess pieces are well designed from traditional designs, these are. Good colours too. Well made, yes its plastic, but wood would make it too expensive. On first inspection I thought the magnetic attachment was too weak, but it works well. When closed the box clicks shut for security. I made a cardboard tray which fits in the box for when we play on the train - the tray is somewhere to put the taken off pieces. Well done Yellow Mountain. Its dead cheap as well !

Looks more expensive than it is, the magnets are strong enough to hold the position in place even when upside down and the pieces are easily identifiable. Basically a very nice, portable set for play or solo study.

A really good piece of chess board. Doesn’t feel plasticky. Pieces don’t feel lightweight either. Perfected for travels and for home. Highly recommended.

Calidad buena, como lo menciono en el video, totalmente de plástico con placa metálica para los imanes, pero no para jugar mientras vas por los baches. Las bolsas para guardar las piezas son de calidad media a baja, una viene con una ligera rasgadura pero funcionan. De profundidad el tablero doblado mide 4cm y desplegado 2cm, además de contar con 6 patitas muy delgadas para aparentar una pequeña mesa. Producto recomendado no como ajedrez profesional si no para practicar en casi cualquier lugar. NO tiene reinas extra.

De tamaño cómodo y fácil para llevar en los viajes. Tiene iman y así no se caen las piezas.

Bought it for my son. He wanted to be able to take it to school. This set is great for him to take wherever. The pieces are magnetic and hold to the board well. Great value for the money!

I love this chessboard. Just small enough to travel with and rugged enough to not worry. I wish the magnetism were a bit stronger and the magnets are glued a little tighter as some of them rattle inside the piece but these are very small details that can be overlooked for its better features. Something to note as I am a stickler for detail, the lettering on the chessboard is lowercase and not upper as seen in the photos on Amazon.
