With ample breathability and a bouncy, cushioned ride this flexible road-runner is built to go the distance. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

First run without knee pain!
I am not, by any means, an experienced runner. In fact, when I started out a few weeks ago, I was just running in my old Nike trainers. Bad, bad idea. I didn't know until recently that I underpronate, and boy, did my knees feel it. I didn't want to spend a ton of money going to a running store to be fitted because I'm not really planning on training for a marathon or anything--I do maybe 12 miles a week. So I did some research on knee pain and checked out the wear pattern on all of my shoes (the outsides of the heels are very worn, meaning my foot rolls out rather than in) and figured I needed to look for running shoes meant for people who underpronate. These had the best reviews in my price range.About the shoes: everything I read said these run small, but I didn't find that to be the case. Before ordering I went to a few stores to try some of the Asics in stock to get an idea of my size and a 7 (my regular shoe size) fit best. They do not run as narrow in the toe box as my Nike's, in which I needed a 7 1/2. If you're in-between sizes I'd recommend choosing the larger, but if you're solidly within a size, stick with it.The colors are a lot more vivid than pictured, which I actually love. I got the glacier/white/coral and they are really bright, especially the coral which is sort of neon, not the more salmon color pictured on amazon. They're super cute!I don't have a ton of experience with running shoes but they feel very light with quite a bit of cushion, and they've helped my stride quite a bit. I feel a lot more energy through the first two toes, rather than the outsides of my feet. My knees, which would hurt for three days after running in my old shoes, felt 100% better. So, so worth it!

well worth the price
I have a slightly wide foot, but usually a size 9 medium width fits fine. When I first tried on these shoes, I was a bit concerned because although the length was perfect it felt a little tight width-wise. I decided to give them a try anyways and before I took them out for a test run I loosened the laces. I've ran in them 3 times since then and now they feel perfect and I have re-laced my shoes to what I notmally wear them. I am new to running, an underpronator, and these are my first pair of ASICS, and it's obvious to me why they cost more than other running shoes. I ran for a month in Nike Volmeros (which were the most comfortable running shoe I have ever owned), but I suffered from sore knees, ankles, and hips, and also had shin splints that made it difficult to walk. I had to take days of rest between runs because I couldn't stand the pain. I was experiencing severe pain even after the last run I had in my Nikes, but with the ASICS there was no pain in my knees, ankles, or hips, and only a slight case of shin splints. After almost a week running in ASICS I have no pain at all after my runs which go between 3 and 7 miles.

Run without pain
I'm normally a New Balance girl, but after wearing their minimal shoes for about a year I started to get pain/pulling sensation in my left foot, specifically the inside of my ankle and arch. I know I overpronate but hate the fit of their stability shoes. Since I can't find the right last/sole shape for my foot type I always end up with blisters from their stability shoes, which are really expensive.Decided to take a chance on these. While other reviewers say they run small, I think they fit just fine, but it could be because I have narrow feet. The pain is now gone since I've switched to these, which have an ample amount of padding. The color is really great, too - they almost glow in the dark since they're so bright.Would recommend to anyone who likes New Balance's NL-0 last but needs more stability than a minimal neutral shoe.My only complaint is they slip off my heel slightly, but that's common for me since I have narrow heels. However, I'll be sticking with the Gel-Flux for training from now on.

Not true to size - half sizes would be great!
I wear a size 11 in women's in EVERY shoe I've ever put on. So, when I ordered these in an 11, I was surprised when they were too small (toes were touching the ends). Since these don't come in 1/2 sizes, I had to order a 12...which are big and I still feel awkward when I run, but they seem to be a good shoe. The arch support and the cushion under my heels feels great. And even though the size 12's look like skis, I love the colors.

I bought the Asics Phoenix several years ago and LOVED them. I have searched and searched for something comparable. I even switched brands. They were a good fit, but in no way held up the way Asics do. I bought and returned three different Asics before ordering these. I now LOVE these better than my Phoenix. The gel in the front as well as the heel makes all the difference, I think. I run mainly on a road surface and these offer all the support I need. It feels like running on a rubber track. The toe box is perfect as well. I ordered my standard size 8 and they fit perfectly.
