Hill's Science Diet Light, Adult 1-6, Weight Management Support, Dry Cat Food, Chicken Recipe, 7 lb Bag

We have two cats, one that will eat until she dies and another that only eats until she’s full. We weren’t that concerned about their weight difference until recently we weighed our big girl and she was 15lbs. Our other cat sits at a (vet confirmed) perfect 9lbs (we feed her lots, she’s just very active). We decided to start feeding them in separate rooms and looked for a low calorie option for our bigger girl that would help her slim down without making her feel like she’s being starved. This stuff is magic. We haven’t even finished our first bag yet and she’s already down 2lbs! We feed each of them 1 can of wet food a day (half in morning and half at dinner) and we give them dry food in the afternoon. I would say we probably give her 3 tbsp of this stuff a day (maybe that’s too much, but she’s doing great!) and she’s been happy and looks healthier. She also had no problem switching from our other dry food to this. We introduced it gradually for a few days and she showed no sensitivity so we made the full switch and she loves it! I would love to make the switch to Hills for our wet food, but it’s just a little too pricy. Maybe one day.

My female cat was getting over weight due to me just leaving her food bowl on the floor. I tried this and she loves the taste of this food. She has lost a few pounds,but also switch here to her other healthy food when this gets a little pricey. My cat seems to have a little more energy and her overall health seems to have improved some since starting this cat food. Will definitely keep buying.

Good quality item and does what it says, but sadly my cats do not like the flavor. I keep buying it because they need to maintain their weight. I do add a small bit of their favorite dry, on top, or mixed in, to it to get them to eat it.

The food is great brand, like the ingredients and we have had no issues. But, our cat is lost really no weight on it, and we have reduced his feeding amounts

So far my cats have started to eat this new food just fine. My vet recommended this food (light because I've got a couple of fatties) and so far it seems good to them. The pieces are much smaller than my old food (goodlife) and they actually seem to stay in the bowl much better, rather than breaking up into tiny pieces and falling all over the floor. I started mixing a quarter scoop into their old food and I'm up to a whole scoop now. I'm sure I could start feeding them the full 2 scoops of this and they'd eat it up but I want to use up their old stuff too. I haven't had any puking which is normal/slightly better than normal. I think they've had solid-er poops if that means anything good or bad. I'm optimistic about the new food. So I'm on the 3rd bag now and I think my cats have lost some weight. They are to the point where they are hungry when they get fed, not just eating and eating all the time. One nice, but really weird, thing I've noticed since switching food is that boy cat doesn't get so much poop in his fur. He is a Maine Coon mix I think so he has long fur. I used to trim his butt hair (yeah I have an odd life) to prevent the issue, but I haven't since I switched food and he no longer gets poop in his fur. Maybe its because he's thinner and can deal with it in cat ways. Either way I'm sticking with the food. Update: So the food has changed. It is now a flat disk shape that is lighter colored. I called Science Diet and the person was very helpful. They said they changed to the new style in January 2017 and that the formula did change. She said they took out pork fat and added chicken fat. She also said they added some minerals. I had noticed my cats seemed hungrier so i asked about the caloric changes and she said that they did in fact reduce the amount of calories to 294 per cup from 315 per cup. It didn't sound like much but it meant that my cats were missing 17% of the daily calories they eat at the amount that I feed them. They still like the food and the new shape doesn't seem to break up all over the floor as badly so I am going to keep feeding it and just increase the amount slightly.

Amazon carries a great product and ships quickly. My problem is with the Delivery Carriers that deliver perfectly good products but on arrival of their destination are DAMAGED by careless actions of the delivery drivers. UPS has become a 2nd or 3rd rate delivery company. Seems like there is nothing being done to correct this situation. Personally, I’d prefer to receive my purchases in good and reasonable condition. The Science Diet pet foods are high quality and this particular formula has greatly helped my young female cat reach her goal of getting her weight in check. She loves to eat, loves the Chicken Flavor but she’s taking in 1/2 the calories. On a diet and doesn’t know it! Kudos to the Hills Company for a great product!!

I like the kibble size, I always buy science diet because my cats fur gets noticeably softer.
