One of the best I've worn in years!
This is an overall excellent shoe...great fit, grip, look, warmth, weight, and comfort! The only thing I would prefer is the other lacing system Solomon is known for (cables with the no-tie system). The thing that stands out to me with this model, and I've had hundreds of different activity shoes over the past 30 years, is the overall comfort combined with the secure connection you feel with the ground. I understand that not all feet are shaped the same but for a longer thinner foot these seem to be perfect. Enjoy!

Excellent Shoe, runs slightly small
Order half size to full size larger than regular Nike’s if you want them to fit more comfortable.I don’t use these for any hiking. I don’t hike. Wanted a sportier look for the weekend that says, “hey I’m a little athletic” for general around the town weekend warrior stuff. Ya know, like kids soccer practices, errands, trips to Home Depot, riding the bike with the family, etc.Looks good with shorts or pants/jeans. The blue color is a lot lighter and brighter than pictured.I’m sure ordering your true size is the way to go if you are actually hiking and want a tight fit in the toe. That’s not me. I was looking for a shoe to replace my aging blue Keen’s - this fit the bill. Not very breathable, which is to be expected with waterproof shoes....however it is nice and sturdy.

Salomons vs Merrells: Salomon for the win!
These are very well designed shoes. Grippy, hugs the feet, and provides stable sure-footnedness. I wouldn’t wear these on hot summer days though, because the waterproofing membrane traps a lot of heat. For cold winter days, these shoes are the best! Some reviewers talked about a crumpling sound when walking in these shoes and they are right. There’s a weird crumpling sound at first, but after the shoes settles into the foot and warms up it goes away. The included insoles aren’t that great, I always buy new insoles for shoes that I wear anyway, so no big deal. However, keep in mind that the outsole is very stiff. It provides benefits for longevity, but seriously lacks cushioning for when walking on concrete. Four stars, because for the price, the minor issues shouldn’t really be an issue. I have other Salomon shoes, and these run a little smaller for being the same size as the other Salomon shoes. But overall very good shoe for its purpose.

Experienced Salomon Wearer
These are my 4th pair of Salomon waterproof shoes. This is my first trial with the climashield waterproof, as I previously only owned the quick lace gortex Ultra 3dX shoes. I would opt to purchase the traditional lacing system from now on, because even though each pair of shoes I owned previously lasted for 3+ years, the quick lacing system, even though convenient, was always the first thing to break or wear out.Salomon shoes are fantastic for Ohio fall/winter weather. I can walk in any type of wetness and then work an 8-10 hour workday in these shoes because they stay dry and stay comfortable. They fit to my exact size, however, it would behoove anyone who has not previously owned a pair to try them on before settling on the purchase. The previous entry model shoes were made with gortex, however the gortex material shoes have increased in price by about $20-$30. I assume the new entry model climashield technology will hold true and keep everyone's feet dry. Salomon shoes are the only shoes I wear now to ensure dry, comfortable feet.

Buy a full size larger especially if you have wide feet.
Cons: These shoes run at least one size to small, especially for people with wide feet. They require some breaking in and may be uncomfortable for a week or more. They do not breathe well.Pros: The shoes have excellent traction on wet and slippery surfaces. They are well made and Waterproof, They look good,

I live in the mountainous region of Colorado where it ...
I live in the mountainous region of Colorado where it can rain often and of course, there is snow in the winter. I don't run for sport or health so these shoes are just everyday walkers for me. I do walk a lot and some of it is off pavement. These shoes were chosen because they are advertised as waterproof and protective of colder weather. Both of these features are a necessity for me because of where I live. They were also chosen because of the Solomon name. I have never purchased the brand before and I was wanting to give it a try.I can tell these shoes are exactly what I have been looking for. The build quality is high and no doubt will they last me over a year of walking around. I have not tested water proof-ness but can tell they will be great- I cant wait for the snow. Tread on bottom is soft and gnarly. It takes a little getting used to how tall the lugs are. I imagine they will be much lower when I finally wear them out.

GO Salomon!!! always good.
Salomon has never let me down. I introduced myself to the brand in France twenty-plus years ago when I purchased a backpack which was tearfully surrendered only a year or so ago. I have one pair of Salomon hiking boots which have many miles on them and show very little wear... This shoe was pricey, but I trust the brand, no matter where it's made and the brand still earns my trust. These shoes are lightweight yet feel solid, a great color but not too loud and I know they are good for many miles.BTW, I am not a man, but an (ahem) older woman who broke some toes a few years ago, and toes are are unforgiving.... These are great shoes..I love Keen shoes and boots but I do believe Salomon products just plainly last longer and I am grateful.

Comfortable right out of the box.
I've worn Merrels for years but wanted to try something new and I am not disappointed. These Salomon shoes are so much lighter than my trusty old Merrels. Great support throughout the footbed and they "are" waterproof. Very comfortable but I am able to notice that the toe box is indeed narrower than other brands of shoes I have worn. Not a problem for me but if you absolutely require a wider toe box this may not be the shoe for you. One plus for these shoes is that the laces actually stay tied all day. The material they use is different than I'm used to and it stays tied. Not a huge thing but can be very aggravating at times. Not a problem with these.
