The size of the filter is great,fits perfectly in a maxpedition micro pouch or a pocket, it feels well made and sturdy and of course filter water very fast. I have tried the filter out in my local river and safe to say the filter worked great as I had no illness.

Compact!
Yet to use out in the wild, but have used previous versions of lifeline products with great success. This thing is tiny and claims to be able to filter thousands of litres. Will update after the apocalypse.

Broke first time backwashing.
I technically got one use out of it, and it's actually a really neat little unit... But it broke first time backwashing. I was careful not to thread the syringe on too tightly, but the thread is VERY brittle. During pumping/backwashing, the unit cracked. Literally being as gentle as I could, and stood in my kitchen with everything laid out neatly - so NO WAY this would stand up to backcountry use.Amazon issued a refund, but no contact from Lifestraw. I'd be willingn to give them another go and adjust this review, if they can prove that it was a one-off fault, and can rebuild some trust through communication.
