Honest memoir from superstar Britney
Loved this autobiography - Britney tells it like it is! A very easy read, almost childlike at times; you can tell it is her own thoughts and feelings. Basically the book covers her life from being a small child, who just loved singing, and how she has coped with traumatic events in her life so far. She does clear up any untruthes especially surrounding events in the media. Her family life sounds abusive; she put up with a demanding controlling father who drank a lot. Her mother and sister did nothing to support her. Usual story of child star exploited by her family for money. She came from nothing. She goes into a lot detail about her first proper love, Justin Timberlake, speaking about her horrendous home abortion which was heartbreaking. He obviously broke her heart. She speaks briefly about her love life throughout the book - but the main content discusses her love of music and being a recording artist. Her freedom was taken from her for 13 years and I am glad she has ended her conservatorship under her father where she had become a virtual prisoner. Indeed, she personally thanks her fans at the end of the book for their precious support which encouraged her to fight against it. Not much in the book about her marriage to Federline or her two sons which was a little disappointing, but I guess she doesn't want to hurt them. So sad that they don't want to see her according to the tabloids. I hope she can lead a more fulfilling life. I wish her peace. She worked hard for what she has and she deserves a break. No self pity thank goodness, just an honest unflinching glimpse into her life so far. What a woman!

Worth the read, but...
I felt the book was rather lackluster. There has been so much hype to the details laid bare and confessions of britneys secret struggles yet there was very little detail in these confessions She talked about her 2 kids alot and how they were her life but yet she gave up fighting for them so easily I felt when they were younger. I mean no parent can actually take children from their mother and withhold them for no reason so I was a bit confused how KFED got away with that. Essentially its a story of a teenager rebelling against everyone that tried to restrain her. And my work her family definitely tried to do that in abundance. Most of the book was around her conservatorship and the radical decision her father made to make her appear insane all so he could get his hands on her money. Knowing all this, who can blame Britney for being the way she is now. She shows in her book just how resilient and strong she is at overcoming such hurdles and I understand why she wanted to speak out and set the record straight.

I loved this.
Moved beyond what words can put to paper. This is not for the faint hearted and to read it is a privilege of never having had to go through what she went through. Yet themes of growing up in a high control, shaming environment, dealing with family members addiction, resonates with everyone on their own personal fight to freedom. Have an even greater love and respect for Britney having read this. 10 out of 5 stars!

Freedom
I cried, I laughed. And read it in half a day. It’s about freedom, anger, redemption, sex, faith, and compassion. The book makes you aware of media manipulation, and how we go along with it (how dare she disappoint us?). I might not pay and go to a concert of an unwilling to perform bald 150kg woman (or I might), but it's her issue, not mine. I don’t believe she understands how of a privilege her situation is and was – they are so many artists who don’t get the attention that they need to live from their art - and her cluelessness about so many things (how men react to her sexiness, how she was used by them, how harsh people can be, etc.) is fully assumed, but, honey, shouldn’t you be using your brain a little bit more? There are also some incoherencies in the harshness of the conservatorship (she claims she was always on hard diet but speaks of a movie night with her two boys where she could have had popcorn, and then of nights out dancing in Europe; - but does it really matter?). There is also few to no words to the first 3 albums she did under the conservatorship (a glance at the relationship with Max Martin would have been interesting, or comments on the “hold it against me” song and video). Finally, no words of her alleged medical diagnostic (only some post-partum depression is mentioned), which is no wonder, as you have to be an adult to assume those types of things in life. Anyway, a fantastic read, least but not last: a big thanks to the incredible work of the ghostwriter(s) who helped out carving something compelling of the life of this superstar, no longer ours.

Speechless and sad. A must read for everyone. I'm glad she finally wrote this book. Must have been very therapeutic for her. On the surface, we think celebs hv a better life than us but we're wrong. Shame on everyone who let her down esp her family. This is the one book that I cdnt stop reading. It ws very well written. Chapters are short, she doesn't dwell and dt makes it evn more interesting. Great book!
