I went to use my log splitter after it was stored outside over the summer and when I plugged it in and started it, it just made a humming noise and then overload tripped out. I was pretty sure it was a bad capacitor because the motor spun freely. I recorded the specifications of the capacitor and ordered one on Amazon. The ten dollar investment was well worth it because after I installed the new capacitor and turned it on, the motor fired right up. The log splitter was about ten years old and I was glad I was able to revive it for ten bucks. Glad Amazon had a replacement and got it to me, although slightly behind schedule, but quickly enough and before the temps dropped and I was able to get the unit up and running again. So if your log splitter hums and buzzes when you turn it on, it's likely the capacitor is bad. Hope this helps anyone that runs into this situation.

Great replacement for my 1 AMP 240V pool pump. Whenever it would try to start, it would make a clunk noise and nothing else. Now my pool pump is back to normal
