Great for removing excess engine oil. (500ml syringe)
Great for removing engine oil from car! I’d seen mixed reviews of this syringe and was unsure if I’d wasted my time ordering it. My doubts were quickly erased when I’d received and used it for the job I had in mind. I recently serviced my car but put a smidge too much oil in and didn’t want the hassle of putting the car back up on ramps and removing the sump plug for a partial drain. Now quite a few people who also wanted to remove excess oil from their vehicles struggled and consequently left negative reviews. The process took me about 6 or 7 minutes and these are the key points to note that should hopefully make it just as easy for you too! Run your engine for a while to warm the oil up but you only want the oil warm, not hot! If the tube that you’re connecting to the syringe is too tight to put on then don’t force it, just warm it up with hot water to make it more malleable and it should go on fine. Ensure you have a good snug fit onto the syringe and test it by just sucking up air and blowing it out before you use it. Run the tube all the way down the hole that you’ve removed your dipstick from and slowly pull the top of the syringe to suck up your excess oil. It will probably be quite stiff and take a few minutes - depending on how much oil you’re removing - so be patient. Have a cloth nearby for when you remove the tube from the dipstick hole incase there’s any spillage. Job done! As you’ll see in the photo and short video, I used the 500ml syringe for the job. The smaller syringes may not be as easy for engine oil removal - due to the circumference of the tubes probably being incrementally smaller. Hope this is helpful to anyone sitting on the fence with the same job in mind.

Great purchase.
Your laugh but My real Christmas tree stand - when full with water is a pain to empty when the tree needs to go outside for collection after Christmas. Use this to remove the old water from the stand with ease and was a perfect purchase for the job required. No spills and the old smelly dirty water removed in no time. Washed and dried ready for next year's real tree. Why didn't I buy this years ago? Makes life easier to do jobs like this.

No good for sucking engine oil up through the dipstick tube!
The tube attaches to the syringe via a tiny plastic adaptor which has two problems. (1) it means the orofice is about 2mm wide at the narrowest point, which makes sucking engine oil up through the dipstick tube extremely hard going, especially when things get oily. Using all the force I could apply I got a dribble of engine oil up to about 7cc at each full extension of the plunger. (2) This tiny plastic adaptor, in this oily environment, is highly prone to falling off into the engine bay, never to be seen again, leaving your screwed.

It is, what it is.
Ideal for most types of fluid, no problems so far

Lots if extras but doesn't work for thicker engine oil
In principle, this works only with light oil fluids. The diameter of whole and tube make it useless to pull up thickened 10W40 oil for example. However, it does have lots of extras, but not useful for thicker oil either.
