I believe it will become a modern timeless classic
delivered on time - as described - no damage - well packaged - no hasslesspoiler info - will give the story away but will try to not reveal the endingWasn't expecting much from this - cast I'd never heard of - film I'd never heard of - hadn't even read a synopsis. So I was really pleased by what unfolded. In overall feel it was like an older film and possibly a bit like a French classic from the 70's or 80's. Perhaps that's why I liked it so much.A simplish story told very well. The character development was excellent and the direction was so good I did not see some events coming until they arrived. My sympathies as always are for the underdog and this was no exception.SPOILER NOW. I thought she was going to get hurt and she did BUT she felt it and dealt with it and it ended as satisfactorily as possible. I have great difficulty with endings. Too pat, too ridiculous, too sad - too happy etc. This was just about right.SPOILER OVER:Was there any message in the film - yes several. hard to verbalise easier and better to absorb by watching. Plus I don't want to get in to the whole religion debacle. I have to say I didn't know which way that issue was going to go and I think it was handled about right. The class issue It's all there. but the clever thing is it's hardly mentioned at all explicitly it just silently screams out.Are the girls disturbed or dysfunctional - perhaps one percent more than average but I found them believable.Press and Blunt are 95% of the film and they carry it without effort. Their performances are superb. No doubt made slightly easier by the great script. And with so few cultural references this will age well. and no doubt be as relevant and captivating in 20 years as now.ACID TEST: would I buy again/recommend - YES

the thigs these young girls get up to
Is this a sexploitation movie ?Natalie Press and Emily Blunt are both completely convincing as the seduced and the seducer in this quaint, low budget British teen lesbo-flic.Interesting background story of the former's elder, wayward brother struggling with his own demons in a trajic yet comedic way while our two heroines discover themselves and each other in a sultry pleasure fest of dressing up and daddy's booze. This was Blunt's debut performance in a lead role and you can see why Hollywood sought her out to play posh English birds from then on. A kind of female Hugh Grant. Who can forget her in The Wolfman ?Mainly for the ladies, this one, or those with a fondness for the sweet, the unattainable and the taboo.

Best film
This shows the best depiction of an outsider looking in on what a typical UK Church goer looks like. The songs in it are the songs sung in uk churches. That one friend you meet where things get alittle out of hand.No spoilersHope you enjoy it as much as I did

I loved it!!
Loved it because it was so "different" based in North Yorkshire posh girl meets local common girl. I loved the way the common girl got the accent down to a tee! Well done! (and she's from London)I like the fun free feeling and sometimes naughty antics they get up too.I loved the way the brother had all of a sudden become a born again! and the way the girls handled this.Great acting from the girls, and a little of the wall ...

Natalie Press!
A great movie . Almost French in its style. Nothing like the book. Reminded of other teenage films Rita Sue or Wish you were here . Sunday evening classic

Arrived well within time and was in a great condition for a used item
Film itself was described as best film of its era (note not on amazon), purchased due to great reviews however did not live up to description Emily blunt was incredibly but didn't make enough of an impact for a personal point of view in this genre. Script and screen play could have made her win Oscars (note this is not on amazon just product review)

Weird
OK, I guess this is the Directors unique arty style, didn't work for me though, nearly found myself turning it off. Quite liked the twist at the end, that was about it, probably the best bit actually. Had a very random script and was very slow and draining. Acting was good though, especially from Emily Blunt and the guy who played Mona's Brother.
