Canon EOS Rebel K2 35mm SLR Camera (Body Only) (OLD MODEL)

My impetus for buying this camera was a curiosity about returning to film after spending the last ten years using digital cameras. Now, I've never used an SLR camera before, but I was certainly looking at DSLR cameras when I was comparison shopping last year. I found that they produced beautiful images, but they were also very expensive. I wanted to know more about photography, and I was worried that I would be tempted to rely on all of the automatic options and easy post-processing capabilities of a DSLR. Instead, I bought this camera.Film images just look different than digital. You will sacrifice details and sharpness and resolution, because the DSLR cameras nowadays have fantastically large sensors and capture images at very high resolutions. However, I much prefer the way that shadows and colors appear on the photographs that this camera produces. I should note that I bought the "body-only" version and paired it with the popular Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. It's great for taking portraits and outdoor shots and the camera is very versatile with lots of features that can be easily tweaked. I've probably only explored about 20% of the menu items as of this point; for the most part I have stuck with shooting in "M" mode, which means that focus, aperture size, and shutter speed are all manually controlled. It takes more time to set up a shot this way, but you're shooting with film so you don't exactly want to rush through your roll anyway!I'm going to see if I can upload pictures to go with this review. If you are an amateur photographer looking to get into film SLRs or if you know nothing about cameras but want a good film camera for taking warm and beautiful pictures of your loved ones or documenting memories on trips, then you should definitely get this camera. For all other purposes, the camera on your phone is probably more than sufficient!PROS-Well constructed.-Good button placement (for the most part)-Compatible with all EF lenses (very useful!)-Lots of options in the menu systemCONS-Aperture size button is hard to press and adjust while shooting.-Mine (used) did not come with a strap or with a manual.

I love this camera so far. I'm on my fifth roll of 35mm right now and this camera hasn't failed me yet. It has a light leak every now and then but that's not so bad. I love how it's automatic and rolls your film for you. It has many feautres to help newbies (like myself) as well as a full range of manual options. I would reccomend getting a diferent set of lens though, as the kit lens--although producing some rather nice pictures--seem to not capture the essence of the subject really well.Overall, it's a great camera.UPDATE 11/23/2016Changed from 5 stars to 4.The internal mirror finally broke on me and I realized that the batteries for this camera (C2) are pretty hard to find. I bought them online.Other than that it held up just fine and pictures turned out rather decent. This camera was my first one that I bought for myself 4 years ago and i've taken about 7-8 rolls of films throughout the year. I'd still reccomend it if you want the familiarity of a DSLR and the nostalgia of a film camera.

I bought this camera for a photography class that I took over the summer at my university. While many of the Students bought traditional student models, like the Pentax k1000, I wanted to buy a more updated model. The Canon Rebel EOS K2 went above and beyond by expectations; it was easy to use, had multiple useful features, and produced amazing photographs. The best part about this camera is that a user can not only set an aperture/shutter speed, but select a mode where the camera itself will automatically select the appropriate details - the feature is very useful. Also, the camera has specific automatic modes that are designed for shooting close-ups, landscapes, moving objects, and low-lite subjects, which is very useful for novice-photographers. I was planning on selling it to some friends after I finished the class, but am now considering keeping it for taking more photos for fun.

I wish I could write a review about the camera but we never got to use it. The camera was sold to me defective or broken and didn't work. We even spent money on a new battery which was money wasted.

I shoot with this guy now and then when I want to use my EF L series glass with 35mm film. If you are familiar with any of the modern Canon dSLR cameras you should be able to operate this one within a matter of minutes. You'll also find that the light meter is more like what you are used to and has most of the same features (just slightly more obscured since it's a basic LCD and just a handful of buttons).It's also saved my rear on two homework assignments now when my AE-1 has had issues. It's quite reliable and I'm finding that I use it more than my digital body. Just make sure to take it to a reputable camera shop for a good cleaning and once over -- you may have light meter or shutter timing issues you don't know about when you are buying used, older equipment.I highly recommend this camera for any digital shooters with EF glass looking to go BACK to film -- it's a trooper.

It would have been nice to know that the camera shipped without a battery. Now I have to order one and wait for that to be delivered.

This camera is simply amazing! It focuses so quickly!It's also very light, which makes it easy to carry around with you. Can be easily taken apart to fit anywhere, but is sturdy and doesn't fall apart randomly.The manual controls are easily in reach, so you can change the settings easily.The instruction manual is simple and easy to understand, too.And the pictures are just... WOW. I can't believe the pictures it takes, they're all beautiful!Also a great beginner camera!BUY IT. You won't regret it! :)
