The Big Book of 60,000 Baby Names Review: Happy with this purchase - Purchased used but like new and it was just that- it arrived looking brand new. We didn’t use it a whole lot before deciding on a name we already had in mind, but my 8 year old step son LOVES this book and looks through it often making name suggestions because he doesn’t know we have one we’re pretty set on. He is supposed to read for 20 minutes a night for homework and his teacher says anything counts as long as he’s reading, so we sometimes use this as a fun thing to read because he enjoys it so much. Other than that, we did like though that it has a ton of categories and isn’t just hundred of pages with names only. It’s a good name book and I would recommend it. Review: Name meaning book--good reference, many names included. - I love doing name meaning plaques and have numerous name meaning books. This one doesn't include suggested character qualities, which is the object of my name plaques--to use a person's name to encourage and motivate them to develop and live up to positive qualities suggested by their name. I do like the ones with the suggested character qualities better, but this serves as a reference, and I can use it as a springboard in conjunction with other reference name books that I have to come up with positive motivational name meanings.

Definite Must Have
I’ve bought several name books this year and this book, by far, is my favorite. The amount of names and organization to the book is unsurpassed. Hundreds upon hundreds of pages of unique as well as classic names. I love it. I believe my search ends here!

Wasn’t my favorite baby name book
Um...well, I guess this book is ok. I’ve had better ones. Some of the names are so far fetched, but then again, look at the times we live in. Parents are turning to fruit and bedding to name their children so I suppose some of the names in this book aren’t that far off par. I thumbed through the book a few times, but actually found nothing in there that I liked. Two days after we got the book (I was 15 weeks) we picked the name. We knew because of genetic and gender testing that we were having a boy. The name came to me while looking at crib bedding. So I only used the book twice, maybe. But if I had to rely on this book alone to pick a name, I don’t think I would have been able to. Just something about the formatting or crazy names...I don’t know. It just wasn’t my favorite baby name book. But for $2 and some change, I can’t complain too much.

If I could give it a zero I would
60,000 baby names!? That's a real stretch, we are expecting a boy and I went through the entire section of boy names, there was less than one name per several pages of what I would even consider an actual name (and possibly less than 20-30 actual boy names total), the rest were things that seemed made up or names of objects or places. I don't know if other baby name books are better but this one for sure was a waste of time and money I had better luck consulting websites for free. The only pro I can give it is it gave us a good laugh at some of the ridiculous things it tried to pass off as actual baby names. (eg. Canada - place name from Canada, Lemon - fruit tart, Mohawk - place name, river in New York, Farmer - he farms, Thaw - cool, Festive - word as a name, joyful) and then there are the ones you just can't even pronounce. I guess if you are looking for something truly original and aren't concerned about your child getting teased or bullied because of their weird name this book might be for you.

Nothing special
Bought for my baby’s dad. He never opened it. But it has a lot of names. Very normal names tho. Nothing too fancy/unique. Google works the same honestly.
