Manual of Biogenic House Sections: A Portrait of Late 19th-Century Athens Through Her Streets and Neighborhoods: Materials and Carbon

I bought this book having really enjoyed 'Manual of Section'. I thought it would be worth it - and yes, I totally love the format, content and great choice of case studies. It also looks quite a bit thicker than the first book. This book is up-to-date, beautifully illustrated, and a good inspiration/resource for students, architects, enthusiasts, or somebody planning a build. Being split into chapters by construction type is extremely useful. Their are reminiscences of 'Graphic Anatomy' by Atelier Bow-Wow, but that's not a negative criticism... in fact, this book does a great job going beyond to show real photographs during and after construction to complete the whole picture. 100% recommend.

This is a beautifully illustrated and comprehensive examination of biogenic design, at the present moment. I'm interested in new forms or architecture, and how we might change our building practices to accomidate the changes we are experiencing in our climate, and this is a very nice introduction into design strategies that rethink how we use materials to create buildings. I like the life cycle illustrations at the beginning of each section as well as the beautiful section drawings for each project. This is a great introduction to biogenic design and has helped me re-consider some of my own projects.
