will this lay flat for travel?

It was a piece of crap. It arrived broken in pieces. It was supposed to be connected at the base. If you laid it flat, you would have to lay it face down but the bottom would still stick up. I wouldn't recommend this one. It is very cheaply made.

Will this display hold rings with wide bands like on Paparazzi rings?

the slots for the rings do give somewhat. I've never had a problem putting my wider rings in it for display/sale.

Will this hold my stretchy back rings?

No, not in the slots. It is specifically made for earrings, however mine came in a case and there is a place where I store all the backs of my earrings in the slots between the rows. You could put rings in there if you like.
