Can this be used for other lp items? even though it says lp444n, i received the older model without the rubber gasket.

Don't think mine came with a rubber gasket either. To make it work better with a vibraslap I did cut a piece of rubber and wrapped that around the vibraslap handle to better isolate it from the holder. Easy to do - and this worked fine, though it is still a much better instrument to play by hand.

How do you get the sound to resonate on the mount without choking it?

It will never sound as good as playing as a hand instrument. Get a piece of rubber to wrap around the metal part that is clamped down on the vibraslap. Best you are going to do.
