This stuff works. It tastes funny but it’s the only mouth sore product that doesn’t numb but takes away pain. I noticed the healing almost immediately. It doesn’t work overnight but it’s been 3 days and I’m feeling better. Also the cost is way cheaper than other gels I’ve tried.

I want to try to be crystal clear with my review. First, I wear an upper partial and it has been rubbing in one area on the left side of my mouth, which has caused an ulcer in the spot. I've been using orajel which has helped, but I thought something that was made for mouth ulcers would be better. I got this ointment this afternoon and opened it tonight to try out. As soon as I opened the box, I smelled an odd, almost chemical or bleach smell. The ointment itself was a weird brownish color, as if it's gone bad, and the smell was even stronger and absolutely AWFUL! Still, I was anxious to try it, to see if it would help. So I cut open the tip and squeezed out a tiny little dab on my finger. Thank goodness I did that, because the taste was absolutely horrendous. It's been almost 30 minutes and I still can't get that taste out of my mouth! Think how horrible it would have been if I had put a BIG dab on the spot! I've read reviews now where some said it smelled and tasted like rancid olive oil. Thats a very good description, but I still wonder if there's not bleach in the gel. I will NEVER buy this stuff again! I'm going back to orajel.

I read reviews after buying this product. And I’m glad I did. Had I read the reviews before hand I likely wouldn’t have bought it. The taste? Yea it’s not great. But I don’t think it’s anything to throw up over as a previous review says. Then again everyone’s tolerance levels are different so go into that with this in mind. Certainly have a drink with you for after you let it sit if you can’t do bitter taste. But it’s got clove in it. It has clove flavor. If you’ve never HAD clove- make sure you do a skin test with powder to make sure you aren’t allergic, but also you’ll quickly realize how potent Cloves ARE. Orally and topically clove is strong and has numbing properties. I got this because I’ve had braces for a month now at the grand age of 30 and talk on phones for a living. My mouth got its first sore from rubbing and it HURT to talk. Between orthodontic wax and this treatment I can say it’s nearly gone within just a couple days. Put the product on a clean Qtip. And DAB the product in. Do. Not. Rub. It. In. That’ll scratch the surface and cause irritation. Make sure the area is as dry as possible before application too. I did notice I had to apply a couple times a day to keep the numbing effect up so I could talk, which is my only real qualm here. Otherwise I’ll probably keep this on hand. I’ve got a long 17 months remaining with these braces so I’m sure it’ll happen at some point again. Key points: Bitter taste but nothing to get sick over Let area dry first and D A B with a QTip Apply a few times a day

I have nerve damage on the right side of my face from a brain tumor and radiation, I bite my cheek often. I used this last night and it helped with the pain and the swelling I was having. It didn't have a bad taste at all.
