Restore & Protect really does what the name promises
Restore & Protect really does what the name promises I picked up Valvoline Restore & Protect Full Synthetic 0W-20 as part of my regular oil change routine, and after running it for a bit, I’m genuinely impressed. This oil pours cleanly, doesn’t feel overly thin or watery, and immediately gave me a smoother, quieter startup compared to the oil I drained out. Cold starts are noticeably calmer, and the engine just feels happier overall. What stood out to me most is how smooth things feel after a few hundred miles. Throttle response feels more consistent, idle is steadier, and there’s a subtle reduction in engine noise that you don’t always get from standard full synthetics. I’m not expecting miracles from motor oil alone, but this one clearly seems to be doing something beneficial internally. I also like that this is aimed at both newer engines and higher-mileage vehicles. It gives peace of mind knowing it’s designed to actively clean deposits over time while still meeting all the modern specs for today’s engines. I paired it with a quality oil filter and have had zero issues with oil consumption or leaks. Things to keep in mind: this is a bit more expensive than basic full synthetics when not on sale, so it may not be necessary if you’re already running a very clean, low-mileage engine. Also, the “restore” benefits are meant to happen over multiple oil changes, not instantly. Bottom line: A high-quality full synthetic that delivers smooth performance, quieter operation, and long-term engine cleanliness. Well worth it if you want extra protection and plan to keep your vehicle for the long haul.

— Lives Up to Its Name!
I’ve been using Valvoline Restore & Protect in my 2012 Honda Civic LX with 133,170 miles, and I can honestly say it does exactly what it claims. Engine Runs Smoother & Quieter: Within the first week I noticed the engine sounded smoother, startup ticking went away, and it feels like it has more pep. Cleans Internals: After a few hundred miles, I could already tell the motor was running cleaner and freer. Sludge and varnish buildup are definitely breaking down. Reduced Oil Consumption: My Civic used to burn a little oil between changes—now it’s barely noticeable. Better Fuel Economy: After just one week of use, my MPG went up by 1, which is impressive for a car with this many miles. Great Protection: Knowing it also provides stronger anti-wear protection compared to standard synthetics gives me extra confidence in keeping this car on the road. For the price, this oil is a fantastic upgrade. If you’ve got a high-mileage vehicle or just want to keep your engine as clean as possible, I highly recommend it. Bottom line: This isn’t just oil—it’s like a tune-up in a bottle.

Outstanding Engine Protection & Performance Boost!
I recently switched to Valvoline Restore & Protect Motor Oil after reading countless positive reviews, and I’m blown away by the results! This premium full synthetic motor oil not only improved my engine’s performance but also provided noticeable smoother, quieter operation within just a few hundred miles. The Restore & Protect formula is designed to remove sludge, reduce engine wear, and extend engine life—and it absolutely delivers. I’ve been using this oil in my high-mileage vehicle (Camry with 112K miles), and I’ve noticed improved throttle response, better fuel efficiency (by 4mpg), and overall peace of mind knowing my engine is protected. One of the biggest benefits is the engine restoration technology, which helps clean internal components and keeps the motor running like new. Whether you’re driving an older car or just want to extend your engine’s life, Valvoline Restore & Protect is a game-changer. ✔ Improved engine performance ✔ Reduced noise and smoother idle ✔ Protects against sludge and wear ✔ Trusted Valvoline quality ✔ Perfect for high-mileage or everyday vehicles I’ve tried many motor oil brands, but Valvoline continues to impress. If you care about protecting your investment and keeping your engine running at peak performance, I highly recommend Valvoline Restore & Protect Motor Oil. Fast shipping, reliable product, and noticeable results—what more could you ask for? 5 stars all the way! AND it came perfectly packaged!

The best OIL. Hands down
I was debating on buying this oil because its not dexos approved by GM and I have a 2019 gmc terrain with high milage and took the risk to try something new, well this one decreased my oil consumption and also increased my horsepower. The price is affordable and better because your getting quality oil that cleans out the engine therefore extending the life

I'm a believer on our high mileage vehicles
There has been a lot of hype around this oil. On the surface it would be easy to dismiss that as a media campaign or something... At the end of the day there are some good hard facts out there, and you can watch a million YouTube videos of before/afters. I've now been running this oil in three vehicles, one under 100k miles, one at +130k, and one at +165k. I have seen value to paying a tiny bit more for this oil, and think it offers great value for the money. For the high mileage cars: We did a road trip in our 165,000 mile Mazda 3 and averaged right at 39.9mpg across multiple fill ups. That is great mileage for that car. The oil change was dirty, something I took as an indication that the "restore" properties were working to reduce old deposits. For our 130,000 mile car, due to lack of driving the vehicle I did an 11 month interval (way longer than I planned for the first round of R&P). The longevity of the oil for that interval was fine, I am not surprised as synthetics tend to easily last over a year interval if needed. That said, that car has become noticeably smoother at idle. I will be the first to admit that is subjective, but it's an older car with a noticeable tick. Throtlebody cleaning, some fuel injector cleaner, and this oil were all run through in the last 3k miles, so there was a lot at play. Long story short, the cost difference between this and the high quality oils I tend to use is minimal and I believe (especially for high mileage cars) there are results to be had.

Excellent oil, changes on time is important
This is an amazing oil put out by Valvoline. Might be the best product they've put out and by a longshot. I'm not a big fan of their extended protection and I prefer Castrol/Mobil over that but for what this oil does, specially for high mileage vehicles, is truly amazing. The car not only runs smoother but the first change with this oil resulted in extremely dark oil and color of carbon build up inside a +200k engine. If you look up reviews of this oil it is absolutely important to change the first oil change with this no longer than 5,000 miles. Some have taken a precautionary change at 4000 miles because of the amount of sludge removal. If you have an extremely sludged engine, you might want to go even earlier at 3k. After the first two changes, normal intervals - hopefully no more than 6-7k because of the nature of this oil. This is the better way to clean an engine instead of using a more aggressive one time flush, as those have been known to dislodge and float sludge/build up through smaller channels. 5w-30 is the most ideal weight unless you drive in extreme cold temps. Presuming your vehicle is out of warranty this should not be an issue - do a search on why the US uses thinner oils vs Europe or Australia (CAFE).

Really good stuff.
Really. Really. Good stuff. I maintain a fleet of 3 vehicles that are daily drivers. All with over 150,000 miles. This stuff has them running so good. A 2005 Lexus ES330 with 159k, a 2013 Subaru Legacy 3.6 with 157k, and best of all my 2017 Lexus GX460 with 178k. It has all 3 running like butter and greatly helped the 20 year old Lexus.
