Clint Eastwood Rattlesnake Gun Grip Metal Inlays Movie Prop - One Pair - New - Great Gift

I've inlaid these before on one of my own Colt Peacemakers and it turned out amazing. These I ordered for a Ruger Vaquero and as the Ruger has grips screws I am still skeptical on how it will turn out. I do know for the Ruger grips the snakes tongue has to be removed and it is wide enough to completely cover the screw inserts.

looks great! Came with simple easy to follow directions. My only real problem is I now want to put the snake on all my pistols.

Two snakes for less than the price of one from an importer who sells a Man with no Name clone. The difference? The snakes from the importer are real silver (according to them), thus the $100 per snake price. And silver tarnishes/looks antiqued with little help. And is relatively soft/easy to bend. These snakes are incredibly hard to bend. Two pliers with tape on the jaws the instructions said. Yeah right. Maybe the snakes neck. How about sitting the snake on edge and "tapping" with a mallet to get more bend so it contours to your grip? Yeah, that works much better. But it certainly is a more Bubba style of fitting. I came darn close to cutting the pins off and inletting them like the Cimarron version comes, but I'd still have to have them reasonably sitting flush. It's almost like they are made for larger grips than what comes on Model P's and Cattlemen. Three hours and the one side is getting to where I'm saying good enough. The holes were easy to locate, but again, these are incredibly hard to contour to the grip front strap to back strap. I would love to see some pics from others looking at the edge to see how tight other members are getting them installed to the wood. Where the metal meets the wood so to speak. But from a couple feet away and looking straight on at it, it looks great. I'm pretty meticulous when I work on guns. Unfortunately, I have to relax my tolerances when it comes to these snakes. I would have rather had them made out of aluminum than whatever this metal is. Hopefully the etching solution I just ordered can take the shine off. Vinegar and cold bluing, which both work great on brass, won't touch these. The good news? I can always toss the grip and tray again later with the real silver snakes if it gets to bugging me too much. Well worth the price, but don't expect them to be perfect.

Almost identical to the snake emblems that Clint Eastwood had inlaid on his pistol grips in Sergio Leone's trilogy of spaghetti westerns. Good quality metal. I highly suggest tracing a template of the metal snake to prelocate/predrill the holes on your grips that the pins on the back of the inlay will fit into before gluing them onto the grips with epoxy.

The grip inlays were fairly simple to instal with my dremal tool and steel epoxy, they did take some careful bending to fit the contours for my 1851 repro which I did with a small brass smithing hammer. I decided to not recess them into the wood because the extra grip they provide felt very comfortable in my hand. I didn't like the high chrome polish so I antiqued them and was pleasantly surprised to find they were actually made of copper. Since the installation they have begun to show a nice patina. I have since put about 250 shots down range with no signs of failure. I am pleased with the results and would recommend this product.

OK, you have to understand that these are contoured to fit mostly all revolver style grips. Also, they will not be exactly alike. I knew going in I wouldn't care for them mounted flush on top of grips. So be prepared you will have to break out the Dremel and softly hammer them into a seated position then dig out a little flesh under the rattlesnakes. The finished project is a unique all your own handle that looks awesome! I have to explain how I did it each time an old timer spies my piece at the range or out in the desert when I'm riding.
