desertcart.com : Pilot Kakuno Fountain Pen (Fine-Nib, Non Color Body) with Converter (CON-40) Set : Office Products Review: An excellent drawing fountain pen for an amazingly low price! - Any artist looking for a great drawing fountain pen, look no further. This pen beats any of the other pens I have ever used. The ink flow is smooth and consistent with no leaks. The converter makes refilling with ink a breeze and the weight of the pen feels just right in your hand. It is well made and very sturdy. Why pay more for a pen when this one is too notch! A better value that is hard ti beat! Review: Excellent Performer - I got this Pilot Kakuno pen to replace the Pilot Metropolitan that I misplaced at work. Using the same size nib and the same ink cartridges as my Metropolitan, the Kakuno has performed admirably. In fact, I recently moved and ended up letting the Kakuno sit with an ink cartridge 1/3 full on a side table for nearly two months. I picked it up this morning, expecting there to be a little bit of skipping when first setting nib to paper, but there was not! There had been no apparent drying of cartridge or nib with the cap on, and the pen wrote as smoothly and easily as if I had been using it only an hour before. For the price, I cannot recommend a better fountain pen.

Super smooth and durable
I really wasn't expecting much from a pen this cheap, but so far my experience with it has been great! It writes super smooth, super comfy to hold, and the plastic definitely doesn't feel cheap at all. It definitely feels like it could take a beating and still work just fine, which was my main concern since I bought this to throw in my backpack for note taking and sketching while I'm on campus. Also the smiley face on the nib is fun, definitely lifts the mood during engineering physics lectures haha

A very good pen, I'm impressed. Including the converter is a convenient addition.

Punches above its weight
I had limited expectations for this pen given the price, but it easily blew past them. Smooth writing experience with almost no scratchiness, good ink flow with now skipping. No issues with leakage eso far either. Performs on par with pens 2-3 the price. Great entry point for new FP owners.

Much more than a beginner's pen
Pilot pens (nibs and feeds) are of consistently high quality. Japanese nibs are finer than European nibs, so a Japanese FINE feels like a Western Extra-Fine. I like to use fountain pens in journals with small grids, so I prefer to use the EXTRA-FINE nibs, which are very smooth and not scratchy. Reviewers who complain about scratchiness are probably using cheap, non-fountain pen friendly paper or are pressing too hard. I must own over 20 Pilot pens and have never had an issue with defective nibs. They've all been flawless. Pilot nibs are interchangeable and easy to disassemble and reassemble, which makes cleaning easy. Another pro is that the Kakuno pens can house the larger Pilot Con-70 converters .

Super precise writing.
Really fine nib, which allows precise writing. No clip for a pocket, but that is a minor inconvenience.

Like a more expensive fountain pen

The only negative I have for this pen are the holes on the barrel. I understand it's a Japanese law for choking hazards on products kids could use, but it means I need to use resin or glue to plug the holes to eyedropper this pen, which I think it will look beautiful with that capacity full of ink. It writes beautifully for a Japanese fine, and while a little scratchy, it reverse writes an xf-xxf as well. Great for Kanji practice.

Pilot pens are always on my top list, and the Kakuno fountain pen didn't disappoint me either. The fine nib is perfect for my journaling and Zentangle drawing. I love how smooth and easy it is to work with this pen. The package includes a converter which is a big plus for me as I prefer to use a bottled ink vs a cartridge. One cartridge with black ink is included in the set as well. I'm thinking of getting several more of those sets to use with different ink colours
