THIS is the video security system to buy!
I am pretty OCD when it comes to researching products before I buy. There are many other similar systems on Amazon so it took me a many hours of reading to finally decide to buy this Firstrend system: 1080P Wireless Security Camera System, Firstrend 8CH Wireless NVR System with 8pcs 1080P HD Security Camera and 3TB Hard Drive Pre-Installed,P2P Wireless Security System for Indoor and Outdoor Use I have been so happy with the system that I ended up buying three systems for three different locations: 1. Our farm in Washington's Olympic Peninsula, four cameras inside & four cameras outside (very wet, windy, temperate climate). 2. A commercial facility monitoring the cash register and retail counters, six cameras inside & two cameras outside. 3. Our home near the Montana Rockies , four cameras inside & four cameras outside (bitter cold, ferocious winds, tons of snow). All three systems performed flawlessly with the minor exception that one camera failed (i.e. 1 of 24 cameras) after about a year of use. I think a 4% failure rate is very good, especially given the harsh environment. I emailed Firstrend and they were responsive and helpful, sending me a replacement camera right away at no charge. So I am very happy with their customer service. PRO: EASY SET-UP. For a guy that reads a lot researching product, I don't like reading instruction / installation manuals. Probably the best thing about this system is that it almost sets itself up. I was too lazy to read how to assign cameras to specific view panes on the monitor screen, so I just lined up 8 cameras on a kitchen counter and they all automatically paired to the DVR unit via its own built-in wifi network, I attached a monitor via HDMI to the DVR, and all 8 cameras came up live on the screen in the first 8 panes (3x3 display, the 9th pane shows status). Then I put my hand in front of one camera at a time while looking at the monitor and if my have appeared in pane 6, I wrote "6" on the camera. Once all 8 cameras were numbered I simply mounted cameras in the locations / sequence I wanted to appear on the monitor. (You can change all these assigned locations later on the control head --you don't have to remount cameras.) PRO: GOOD QUALITY, WELL DESIGNED. Super well-made and sturdy. Well thought-out hardware and the software features and functions. Very plug-and-play, and lots of useful built-in user-definable features (most of which I didn't need because my application is simple real-time monitoring with occasional replay). PRO: GREAT VALUE, LOW PRICE, MAXIMUM BANG FOR THE BUCKS PRO: VERY GOOD RELIABILITY PRO: GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT CONS: FOR THE PRICE, CAN'T THINK OF ANY CONS

Getting all the bang for my bucks
PROS: I ordered this camera set of 8 cameras with a 3TB hard drive because people were starting to get stupid around where I live. First they open the doors to my basement. Then they went through my wife’s car when we forgot to lock it. Then my fire wood started walking on its own. It was time for me to put an end to the nonsense. This set of security cameras has enough memory to record, even without internet, for even I don’t know how long. It has stunning HD quality even in pitch darkness. You can set it to beep every time it detects motion and send you notifications. It records, if I remember correctly, a 30 second video on top of the continuous recording and saves it to your Esee app for review so that you don’t have to go back and pull it out of the day’s timeline. CONS: there is an Ethernet cord that is attached to each camera used for pairing with your Net Video Recorder (NVR) and security camera wireless extender is quite large. Because I’m installing these cameras outdoors and these cameras are powered by a dc plug I needed to drill holes from the oustide of my house to run the wires to the inside to plug into an indoor power source I needed to drill really big holes, about an inch and a half, in order to get the wires inside the house. I could’ve installed outdoor power sources but the additional costs was not worth it not to mention the amount of time and effort required to do so. The other thing is although these cameras have decent antennas and has really good range, I didn’t expect them to make it all the way out to my shed, let alone going through the thick walls of my house to get to the outside. Therefore, I had to purchase a security camera wireless extender. This is NOT the same as a WiFi extender which I originally purchased because that was what I thought was needed. The extender is not the one that is sold by the company but I confirmed with them that it is compatible with their cameras. The pairing process can be a bit confusing but their tech support is rather surprisingly good. I had to contact them multiple times and they always got back to me the next day. One more thing is this set does not support any voice capabilities. So you can see but not hear or talk to people through the cameras. Conclusion: I went with this set after reading many reviews on many different security cameras and I decided to go with the set with the most positive reviews and I was not disappointed. With this set I don’t have to pay the additional fees per month of paying companies to access my recordings made on my property. I am now able to see everything, even at night, around my house from every angle with 8 cameras. I can keep a constant eye on my kids playing oust side my house at all times without having to step out the door. I had I had a bit of issues with the technical stuff such as changing the camera channel, operating the notifications, and setting up the wireless extender but, as stated earlier, their tech support was really good. I did not have to spend hours on the phone with them. Each time Neal called me back. I think the longest session I had was about 15 minutes when I was voicing my suggestion about making the Ethernet plug smaller so that people wouldn’t have to drill such big holes into their homes. Neal was very polite and understanding of what I was saying and promised to forward my concern to their development team. He made sure that my many issues were addressed. I have no complaints as all my issues were resolved after reaching out to him. I need to take this moment to give a special thanks to Neal for going above and beyond because there was no way I was going to figure those things out by myself. Now that all my cameras are in place. I want to see what kind of nonsense is going to take place without my knowledge.

After 5 years everything is still working great, including support
I rated this a “4” five years ago because the App Interface and Manual were lacking. Both of those are now greatly improved, so now my rating is a 5. A recent Windows update was causing the IE interface I was using to stop working, so I called the support number in the old paper manual on a Sunday just to see if the number still worked and to my surprise, it was answered by a live person who set appointment with a tech for that evening. The tech and I worked through installing the new version of the PC software and the IOS app. She was very patient and good to work with. I have an older model, but she was able to go back and find the correct software and versions. Amazing. I bought the unit in Feb of 2018 and have had no problems with the cameras (indoors or out) or the main unit. Solid as a rock. Here is some of my prior review that still holds true. Cameras: All 8 cameras are solid and well made. The 3 angle adjustments with the included Allen wrenches (one with each camera) allow almost any angle after mounting. The connectors are solid, and the Ethernet connector comes with a protective cover to seal it against moisture and insects. I have 2 cameras mounted outside and am running them wireless. The protective cover is important as I live in a wet climate. Camera range is good. One camera is 250 feet away and the signal goes through 3 walls, a floor and my garage (which has a fair amount of metal) and the signal is strong. It is important to orient antennas properly. I was careless about that at first and didn’t get a very good signal. Night vision is better than I expected. 5 Base unit: I bought the 3TB unit. It is solid, compact and pre-setup. As soon as you plug it in, it starts up. If the power goes out, as soon as the power returns, the unit boots up and starts right where it left off. 5 Pre-setup: Before they ship, they turn it on and link all the cameras and setup all the default settings. It really is plug and play. This system has been a great value and the company has supported it first rate.

Troublesome
We have been using this in our grocery store for nearly 3 years. Paid $421. Pros: The pictures is very very clear. The wifi feature enables us to be able to watch them on our cell phones from wherever we are. Screen is nice and large. Cons: The moving picture is CHOPPY, not smooth. YOU CANNOT REWIND. Fast forward is also choppy, because the original is choppy. These two issues are a big deal for me because I use them to find small, quick movements in a 2 second time frame when a worker has either made a mistake or stolen. It is much more difficult to navigate these recordings than in my other system, which was hard wired, and so was very smooth playback forward or backward. I have had to email/call for help with an issue 3 or 4 times in the last 3 years, when you call the number during the day, you leave a message and they will call you back from a foreign country in about 7 hours (exactly, no exaggeration), in the evening when you are home for the day. Or, you can use the email. The techs DID help me fix the glitches that would randomly crop up, but it's a process. One of the fixes involved taking the screws off of the motherboard, unplugging the wires on the inside and plugging them back in.... I'm no computer tech, it was strange to be doing that. OFTEN, 1-3 cameras just goes blank - no idea why, and for varying lengths of time. Sometimes we have to unplug it to reboot. Also, the feature in your cell phone where you can view what's happening on the cameras has limited options: as in, you can't rewind or fast forward. You can playback, but you have to watch in regular time which is not generally helpful. So, although it is handy to be able to watch the live feed, it would be even more handy to be able to navigate playback fast forward from the cell phone. I have gone to playback a day from the previous week before and it suddenly acts like there's nothing in it! NO records!, it says. Then I go through the long process of reaching out for help, and they get back to me that night or in the next day or two with instructions on how to fix it. Today I was watching footage from the day before. A couple of hours later, I went to look again at the same footage and it said there was NOTHING in the memory at all. VERY FRUSTRATING. If I could go back in time, I would choose a different system. I do not have any experience with any other wifi/wireless security camera systems, (only my older hard-wired system which was very easy and very smooth, but had a fuzzy picture) so I don't know what's better - maybe they're all like this. It would've been totally worth the extra money to not have these problems. And it's such an extensive process to install and mount all the cameras and set everything up, you are discouraged from buying a different system. Update 4-3-25 Was connected to a tech via phone and email- then one day they just stopped responding. It's been weeks now.

Great home camera hardware -- Software needs help
For the money, I am very pleased with this product. I bought the 1080p, 8 camera set with the 3 TB NVR. Pros: - Good picture quality - Wide view angle - Lots of IR LEDs for good night vision - Decent motion detection, including "mapping" sections of the view to ignore for motion - Pre-configured cameras, which means plug them in and they detect the NVR -- no extra work for user! - Good cable/power cord length so no extensions were needed (at least not for me). - Physical quality of camera and housing is very nice. Cons: - Documentation is minimal and doesn't offer enough explanation of how to configure features. If you're fairly technical/handy, you can figure it out. - E-mail interface is considered not-trusted by Google, so notification delivery is hit or miss. - Recommended remote client (phone) is very poor. You can make it work, but it is amateurish at best compared to others. - Viewing multiple cameras at once on remote client rarely works. Single camera at a time is usually okay. - No ability to playback NVR via remote client. You can view live feed, but that's it. Other: - NVR software is Okay, but needs serious polish from a usability perspective. Things just aren't organized very well. - Needs to support one of the OpenSource home automation projects. The hardware is great, the software isn't. Supporting OpenSource home automation projects would bring much needed improvements in the software which right now is the worst part of this product.

Great Wireless Security Camera System,
Great Wireless Security Camera System, it does a lot more then they noted online. Very easy hookup and the cameras auto hook up to the systems is fast. After hooking everything up, I did notice these cameras don't do well filming through a glass window at "night", It will pick up the reflection of the window from within inside your home. But there's a way to fix this..I put a small black cover/black cardboard ect, that will cover any reflections, now the camera can only see what's outside the window at night only. I'm a film person and knew this trick. If the cameras are a little fare out from base..a cheap wifi boosters could help stop the low bar reading you may get some times, I got 2 cameras with low reading..but it does not stop my images from coming in and things are good. The cell phone app, it works great..I work about 3 miles away from home and get very good images and been as far away over 8 miles and got good images. I see no reason it will not work for long-distance. The cell app was a little tricky for me..I needed tech support and did an email support call bak. They called me back the next day at 11pm..it was from China., Neal my support tech got my wife and my cell set up fast. I will get a wifi booster only because I have so much wifi going on in the home. The security set is doing just fine even with all the other home wife we had before it. I did not have to do too much when it came to the cameras. This is one of the best I've seen for the price. The techs are very helpful and fast getting back with you by phone or email. The rang for the cameras is very good, I have a large back yard and a 4 bedroom home the camera range covers it all. You may get some lite buffing some times..but thats ok..its just your wifi keeping up with your live feed. Your images are not 100% real-time, a 5sec delay and that's when you could get buffing. Buffing very fast reload and you got your new images..very fast and quick and smooth. You can set the cameras to contact you by email or just notice. MEMO..these cameras are set on high alert when you get them..be sure to adjust it. I did not and got 65 alerts due to flowers on the side porch moving in the wind. After resetting the alert..things are better now, you can set for hi, low, very low or off & emails or just NOTICE: Movement Detected on camera 2, and you just look at the camera from your cell to see whats going on. Neal the tech person took the time to go over a lot I did not understand and gave very good tips on. This guy took time to work with me and made sure I know and understood everything I ask...Thank You SIr.

Great System, especially for a first time buyer.
This was the first time I ever dealt with a security system. I found it very easy to set up. The cameras provide very clear daytime shots and the night vision is quite good also. I had to purchase power cord extensions in order to be able to reach the house outlets, but that proved very easy also, the hardest part was actually running the cords up under the eaves. I have the cameras running 24/7 so have not tried the motion activation. I ordered the NVR with a 3 terabyte hard drive and have absolutely no storage issues. I do experience some video drop at times, but overall, the unit functions very well. I currently have it hooked up to my 65in. TV set using a HDMI cable and replaced the provided mouse with a small wireless mouse. This way I can look outside anytime I want to. I am still deciding on optimum camera placement since I have lots of trees and get reflection from the foliage at night. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend the unit to others to buy.

Security System Review
This is a very well made system. Getting the system up and operating is not really difficult. It does take some time and a little engineering skill. All cameras were installed outside to monitor 360 degrees of the house. The security camera system NVR was installed inside the house centrally located to the surrounding cameras. The videos projected on the monitors are very clear, sharp and detail. Objects can be seen as far as 200 feet away, even in the dark with sufficient lightning. These cameras provided peace of mind in knowing what is lurking outside of the house, especially at night. On several occasion strangers were detected and monitored as they approach the house. Safety and security are the major objectives. However, would recommend that the signal strength of the cameras be increased to compensate for obstacles and atmospheric conditions that would sometime force the camera signal to drop out. Overall, this is very good high quality security monitoring system. Have tried other systems in the past. But, this system seems to take the cake. Would highly recommend this system over other compatible ones.
