Titleist AVX Prior Generation Golf Balls

Best balls in the business… I’ve used all kinds of balls, but find the AVX has a nice trajectory, soft at the approach shot from 150 and a nice feel on the putter. I’m an avg. golfer, I use my 3w to drive(225-235), 7i 145-155. When I do pull out the Big Dog it’s 250 on avg on a good day wind to my back down hill, 285. I did go 305 but that was in July on hard pan…

I am a senior golfer who needs a ball that will give my swing speed as much response as possible. I have tried several types of balls with many sets of layers. This ball just seems to be the right flight, distance, control and play that I need to remain competitive against my money hungry competitors. It is a Titleist, so you know the ball is well made and durable.

I like these golf balls because of the feel and the spin around greens. However, take my review with a grain of salt. I am a terrible golfer. If it weren’t for bad golf, I wouldn’t be playing golf! So, I do like these but you should be warned you may get better results during your use! At least I hope so…….

Somehow, I wandered into this Titleist sponsored, 'answer all these questions about your game and we will tell you what to play' thing. I have always played Pro-V1 but have tried many others, Callaway, Srixon, Taylormade to name a few but have always come back to Pro-Vs. Honestly I didn’t notice much if any difference with AVX. So since I am so used to the characteristics of Pro-V1, I'm back to them. I know what to expect and how they will react on approach shots and all other shots around the green. Distance on all shots did not substantively improve with AVX. So, no great criticism of AVX, I just didn’t feel they provided any improvement in any areas and based on the complexion of my game. I'm a senior and really, the only thing that would make me change balls is 15 more yards off the tee, and that ain't happening with merely a ball change.

I really like the Titleist AVX with the full circumference alignment guide. These are durable, have a good flight for my clubhead speed (low to mid-90's), and are very controllable around the green. Currently my ball of choice.

I have always played with and loved Titleist Pro V1 one golf balls. But I am now 70 years old and realized that I was losing distance and thought perhaps a lesser compression ball would now be better for my game. So I gave the Titleist AVX ballsa try yesterday and absolutely love the softer feel and the increased distance of 10 to 15 yards off the tee!
