Excellent customer service!
I ordered this DNA gender test through amazon. I was so excited to test my Quaker to see if I had a male or female. When I got it in the mail however, I was missing EVERYTHING. All it came with was a notice paper. I was so disheartened. I immediately contacted PollyGene customer service, and they were AMAZING! Not only did they have amazon refund me my money, but I got a courtesy downloaded kit for free! I am blown away by the great service that I received. The test itself is easy. I saw alot of negative reviews on hurting the bird when plucking feathers. No, Huey didn't enjoy me plucking his feathers, but it only lasted a minute and then it was done. I promise, he has forgiven and forgotten. I pulled maybe two of his larger tail feathers, and the rest smaller feathers. I just made sure all feathers I sent had blood on the tips. The instructions were very easy to follow. I also saw some negative reviews on not understanding where to mail it to. This I don't understand, as it was emailed to me VERY clearly on how to address it on the envelope. I paid about $1.30 for mailing, and I mailed it at my local post office. Less than two weeks later, I had my results! I would recommend this company to anyone who wants their bird tested. I am so satisfied with everything, and it was so simple! By the way, my sweet Huey is a boy! :)

Horrible, frustrating experience.
Let me tell you how my horrible, frustrating and unpleasant turn of events played out with this laboratory. First, I plucked feathers from my bird as directed and sent them off to the lab in Spain. It took a little over 3 weeks for the lab to receive them just to tell me that there was no DNA on any of the five feathers I'd sent in. I'm still not sure how exactly that could have happened. They tried to tell me that I did not pluck them correctly and to watch their video. So I watched their video, plucked again and sent in five new larger feathers. It took two weeks this time for them to receive my feathers. Let me tell you that part of the fun with this whole thing is the ability to watch their website where it's supposed to tell you when your samples arrive, that they're waiting for results, and then the surprise when your results finally show up on their website. I did not get that fun. Instead, two days after sending off my second set of samples I got stuck in a loop where it continued sending me emails every other day telling me that my samples had arrived making things very confusing. I had no way of knowing if my samples had arrived or not and this went on for two weeks. The manager had to finally tell me my samples had arrived. Oh, and the only way to talk to somebody is through email or chat, but that's frustrating also because of the time difference. Because of the time difference they work all night long while normal people are sleeping. They also tell you that you will get your results within 72 hours. 72 hours came and went and I had not had any results yet from the manager. I messaged him back telling me that I should have results by now and he told me that my samples had just barely gotten there that day. That made no sense since he had told me three days before that that they had gotten my second set of samples. But what could I do, I was in America and he's in Spain. So I waited another 72 hours. Then they told me that my results were inconclusive so they had to run them again. I was seriously about ready to cry at this point as all I wanted was to know the gender of my bird. The $11.99 was seriously not worth this frustration. In the end my bird was a boy in case anybody is wondering, lol, but I would not go back to this lab to find out the sex of any of my other birds. It was a horrible experience and not worth the money like I said.

Easy to follow directions, fast results. Liked email status updates
Very easy to use and received results about 5 days after mailing. I was hesitant due to some reviews stating there wasn't a correct address in Barcelona Spain, where you send it to, but I had no issues and mailed it to the address on the form. I just clipped a nail back a little at a time until I got a little blood and put it on the area on the card and let it dry before outing it in the envelope and mailing. I set up an account online as directed and they emailed me when they received it and less than 48 hrs after that they emaile the certificate with the results. It's a girl by the way. Would recommend.

Outstanding Product for bird sexing!
As an Animal Behaviorist and exotic animal rescuer, knowing the sex of a bird can often help me with training, pairing with new owners, correcting behaviors, etc. This is an EXCELLENT product for that! Price is very reasonable and turn around time (to the US) was very fast. THANK YOU POLLYGENE!

I bought 2 of these and my family accidentally threw them away so I never got the chance to use them. They are probably decent

My Jenday is a girl, and no trauma!
The whole process was simple and fast, and my Jenday Conure is a female! She doesn't even remember me plucking her feathers, as I had only needed to pull a few from her neck and it was quick and painless. I did also clip a nail and send some drops of blood to be extra sure, just don't put your bird back in the cage until the little toe clots. I'm glad the experience wasn't too traumatizing for her - she's only six months and the last thing I want to do is scare her. But she did so well and I am so proud. I highly recommend this!

I found this kit to be confusing: -you have to search through a long list of bird species names to find your specific species and they are not in alphabetical order. It took me a while to find my bird species. -The lab address moves around, so you have to register your product before you can find the address and even then, still confusing. After registering, the website says they’ll send you an email with the address, but then the website also provides an address. And why is their lab address moving around anyway? Odd. -The tweezers they provide are plastic junk and couldn’t tweeze anything, let alone pull a feather out from a struggling bird. You have to use real metal tweezers instead. It’s stupid that they even waste the plastic sending this garbage. -There are other testing facilities/companies located in North America, so if you live in the U.S., I recommend using one of those versus this company. -I am about to send in my sample, so I will update this with the results.
