WILEY Disciplined Entrepreneurship Startup Tactics: 15 Tactics to Turn Your Business Plan into a Business : Cheek, Paul, Aulet, Bill: desertcart.ae: Books Review: When it comes to building a venture-backed tech startup, there are hundreds of books—but only two I believe you truly need: Disciplined Entrepreneurship (Bill Aulet) for the why and what, and Startup Tactics (Paul Cheek) for the how. They’re complementary twins. I’m an in-the-trenches tech founder (3 startups: 1 win, 1 loss, 1 draw) now building company No. 4. We’ve followed Paul’s strategy, systems, processes, and tools—and they’ve been the bedrock of our progress. Startup Tactics doesn’t just explain how; it equips you to actually do it. The book lays out a smart, chronological order of operations across 4 stages—Foundations, Market Testing, Product Development, and Resource Acquisition—covering 15 practical tactics. Each tactic is packed with get-stuff-done wisdom, scrappy examples, recommended tools, prompts to get you moving, plus links to explainer videos and downloadable templates. It’s the ultimate startup toolbox, with clear step-by-step instructions. The devil is in the details, and Paul goes there. In Market Research (Tactic 3), he not only outlines the right process but also lists where to find interview candidates (pp. 59 & 75). In Legal (Tactic 11), he flags the essential incorporation documents and the importance of filing the 83(b) election (p. 188)—a small step that can literally save you millions in taxes and many sleepless nights. Paul’s streetwise guidance has been battle-tested by us: we went from ideas to product, from customer validation to fundraising faster, cheaper, and with fewer mistakes by following his playbook. Thank you, Paul—fantastic book. If you’re building a startup, buy it.

Highly recommended guidebook for both entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs looking to bring an idea to life. It's like an MBA-in-a-book. Building a venture for the first time, have applied dozens of the book's lesson. Can also see employees using it to test new ideas and track progress of new inventions. Would strongly urge you to buy it if you're an innovator or founder.
