I purchased this tool for home project and hobby use. My first experience was using the "hot knife" to precision-cut 2" thick polyurethane foam for cushion fabrication. I was able to effortlessly make clean, accurate cuts without tearing the foam and without leaving any residue behind. I am an avid "tool guy" and this is certainly at the top of my "list" of quality tool performance experiences. The tool came with 4 blades, 2 brass cleaning brushes, the T-handled socket-head hex tightening tool for blade installation and - of course - the cutting tool assembly itself. The cooling fan feature is a definite plus and IMHO renders this tool a professional/commercial-grade, no-nonsense product. The hard case and excellent user manual are an added bonus. Good stuff. Comes with a lot of stuff in the kit for cleaning. Sturdy box gets hot quick. Make sure you got on a mask and do it outside. Whatever your cutting's going to stink and it's not supposed to be in your lungs. Get a good mask

I am a professional fabricator so I do a lot of foam sculpting and this is a very solid foam cutter so far. It comes with a variety of useful blades and accessories. It heats up quickly, gets hot enough to cut through foam easily. It has temperature dial and a power trigger so its not actively heating unless you squeeze the trigger. I haven’t been using the for long so I can’t really say much about its lifespan or durability yet. Hot knives tend to die quickly in the shops where I work. A couple tips to help make it last; Don’t keep it running for long periods of time, give it frequent breaks to cool down. Keep the vents clear of debris and foam. Keep in mind the blades will start to get softer after repeated heating cycles. Personally I like using the old softened blades to bend into custom shapes.
