Bought an expensive MacBook dock / stand (you know the one, with an NVMe slot) which couldn’t even power a USB ring light. Refunded it and got this instead for less than a tenner and everything works as expected: HDMI, USB webcam and USB ring light. Awesome!

All worked as expected, but I was unable to connect my Android Huawei P20 to the TV by HDMI because the software for this had to be pre-installed on the phone and my screen wasn't working this is why I was trying this workaround :D

After using it for a month I have noticed issues with power pass through and wired internet. The power pass through original should fine on my laptop but has recently started showing as slow charging. And the wired internet has become flakey and slow. This is the same issue I have run into with alternative dongles over time, especially when there is power pass through.

Neben den drei schnellen USB 3.0-Ports bietet der Adapter Slots für SD- und Micro-SD-Karten, die problemlos und mit guter Übertragungsrate arbeiten. Ideal, da der Mac ja keinerlei Slots für SD-Karten oder USB 3.0 bietet. Über den HDMI-Ausgang lässt sich ein zweiter Monitor in 4K @ 60 Hz anschließen – das funktioniert perfekt ohne jegliche Aussetzer oder Signalprobleme. Wer den Adapter zbs. an einem Macbook oder einem anderen Rechner nutzt, kann dieses über den USB-C Anschluss laden. Der USB-C Anschluss überträgt aber keine Daten sondern ist lediglich zum Laden gedacht! Das Aluminiumgehäuse wirkt hochwertig, passt optisch hervorragend zum Mac mini. Für den günstigen Preis bekommt man hier eine erstaunlich solide Lösung für den Schreibtisch oder unterwegs.

I grabbed this BENFEI 7‑in‑1 USB‑C hub on sale and only after unboxing it did I notice there’s no Ethernet port. Classic me — eyes on the discount, brain on vacation. But honestly, I’m too lazy to return it, and it turns out I don’t even miss the cable internet that much. The hub has plenty of other useful ports: HDMI works perfectly, the USB slots are fast, and the SD/TF readers save me every time I’m juggling camera cards. It’s compact, solid, and doesn’t heat up like a laptop left in the sun. So yeah, no Ethernet… but with everything else it offers, I’m actually pretty happy with it. Five stars, eh.
