5 wonderful books

I was turned on to this author after several woman on a backpacking trip I took were going nuts about how good her books are. Having recently discovered that I LOVE historical fiction, I went for it and bought this 5 pack. Needless to say, I spent much of this past summer cheating myself out of hours of sleep as I could not put these books down. Across these 5 stories, I've "experienced" WW2 in both Nazi occupied France and war torn Leningrad, the plight and family struggle-dynamics of a post 9/11 Black Hawk pilot called to serve, the beauty and terror of living in the Alaskan wilderness post Vietnam War, and the 1930s dust bowl era. The bulk of these stories focus on women and their relationships such as wife-husband, mother-daughter, sisters, therefore I think their appeal is largely to women readers. The stories are gripping and often have surprise twists in them. I definitely had emotional and at times visceral reactions to these stories. I even find myself especially interested in learning more about the dust bowl era of America now. But as I said, these are bigtime page-turners, which is why I have resisted cracking open my copy of "The Women"--which everyone in the world seems to have read, if they've read anything by Kristin Hannah. Maybe after I've recovered from these 5 and feel well-rested... :) RE: quality: Most books in this "economy pack" were fine--only one had it's pages cut oddly so I had to trim some frayed pieces, and that was no big deal at all. All 5 made it through my reading them without any binding or other issues. Good deal.

Love this author. Reminds me of stories my grand mother use to tell me about her life.

Shipping was good, easy to read and good quality paperback books.

I love the way Kristin Hannah writes her stories. After I read the Nightingale I had to read more of her books. I start reading and I can’t put them down.
