I never knew that about London
Although I've lived in London for some 20 years, this book has really been a great insight into the things I didn't know!! How I wish I'd had this information earlier - I'd have enjoyed living in London even more. In the next year, before moving out to a quieter location for retirement, I indeed to spend time visiting birth places of the famous, homes that are open to the public and generally taking with me a lot more informaiton than I'd otherwise have had. So glad I heard about the 'sister book' "I never knew that about the River Thames" when it was featured on Songs of Praise. This book is highly recommended, and will be particularly of interest if you like to learn historical facts and trivia. It will also help you explore some of the less well known places of great interest. I Never Knew That About London I want to complete a photographic memory of 'My London' and complete my own book as a keepsake. This will help so much in getting new locations for that. Thank you to the author for a great book.

Amazing What You Don't Know
I am a regular traveller to London and enjoy reading about it, so was pleased to receive this as a Christmas gift. It's not the sort of thing you would probably pick up and read front to back but more something to dip in and out of. The information is presented in regional sections (for instance there is a section on Westminster and one on The East End - to name just two). Each area then has a number of facts in it, some short, some large, but all interesting in one way or another. I've not read this all yet, but it is a great little book so far and I have certainly found things out I didn't know, and been corrected on things I thought I knew! Lots of facts to bore people with! Can recommend this to anyone with an interest in London, or just a thirst for facts!

Lots of fascinating facts and things to seek out
Lots of fascinating facts about London. Each chapter covers a different borough so is great if you do visits and want to explore a particular area.Full of great history facts as well.On a recent tour of the royal Naval college in Greenwich the tour guide asked how how the Isle of Dogs got its name. Thanks to this book I managed to impress everyone with the answer lol.

This was so much fun to read and I have been recommending it highly to my London traveler friends. I plan to create maps and do walks, and the only flaw in this book is the lack of maps. Anyone who buys Rick Steves (and I do, a lot) knows that maps and directions can be truly poor things, but we could have used even some written ones. I read it with a copy of my London map book firmly in hand. It is a sheer delight.

I originally bought this in audiobook format, which I re-listen to occasionally, usually at night as I'm falling asleep...the narrator's voice is very nice. I liked it so much I bought the book in print. This isn't a typical guidebook with tiny print, lots of photos, indexes and bright colors and illustrations. It reads more like an abridged history book, pinpointing TONS of interesting places in London. It's very thorough and next time I visit London I will use this as a guide because many of the places it talks about won't be in your everyday guidebook which are usually devoted to high-traffic tourism. If you love London, you must have this book, and I recommend BOTH formats.
