GE Heavy-Duty Single Pole switch was exactly what I needed to replace a Levitron switch that stopped turning the light on and off. Very easy to install. Looks better than the original switch I had. When you flip the switch it makes a noise that isn’t terribly loud. You can tell a switch was flipped but not from across the house. It fit perfectly. I paid more to get it overnight and more then I could have paid at my local hardware store but I don’t care so long as it works and I didn’t have to drive to get it. Good value.

NEC standard switches are frankly not designed very well, all in all, but this is a completely competent, solid version of the standard, as far as I can tell. Yes, the terminals could be better, but they're sturdy. Yes, the face frame will tend to bend, but you can straighten it. Yes, you may have to take the cover plate off to futz with the switch placements and then put it back on, but that's normal. Leave yourself enough wire to easily fool with the connections, especially if you're using 12, and you won't hate it too much, assuming you can get the excess wire back in the box without bending or loosening or breaking something. Someday we'll have better designed components, but for now this is a good example of the type. The switch itself is pleasantly chunky and has a soft but positive throw. Looks decent. Good value for the money.
