Button is quality. Light does shine through letters (see photo). If putty doesn’t work (didn’t for me), heat a glue stick with lighter until really melted press-hold (90s) on old button and pull.

Light doesn’t shine through letters as bright as stock button but it looks fine. Otherwise perfect.

Apply the gum on the entire surface of the start button, press down and pull, got it on the first try.

Loved it fit, perfect in my BMW X6.

Removing the original button was a bit difficult but the included putty did its job. Just make sure to cover a large surface area of the button with the putty and let it sit for a few minutes before yanking it out. The button itself is a great replacement to the original one. Light shines through perfectly, and the text/color matches the OEM button. The only downside is that the button has a very glossy finish and feel, which does not match OEM. Ultimately, for the price it was definitely worth it!

I love this, only issue I had when installing it was, the putty was really dry due to the cold climate from where I live. I had to use a flathead screwdriver to remove the original button which left a couple scratches on the platform unfortunately. Other then that it looks amazing!

Great economical replacement for old, worn, sharp start button. BMW dealer quoted me $800 plus dollars claiming they had to replace the whole panel to change the start button. Glad I gave this a try. I did also use a small flathead screwdriver to help pry the old button off after the putty loosened it.
