Q: Does this shock sit you up higher than most chairs

"Than most chairs?" NO. There is no "most chairs". This is 5" extension model (really 4 1/2) which is middle of the 3 standard extension. You need to measure the total compression, lowest to highest, of your existing chair and get the model that matches it (or changes it if you want that).

Q: Is the weight capacity rating correct (1,000 lbs.)? this is the only i've seen with that rating at comparable prices. thanks.

I know it is much higher than any of the other chairs I have had it also adjusts to much higher height if need be. I have not tested to 1000 lbs but it is very sturdy even if using all day, everyday.

You would need to find out if your chairs cylinder is replaceable and if it uses the same size cylinder. The cylinders work great, I have replaced the cylinder in two chairs and they work great.

Assembly Instructions Description	Tip the chair onto its side. Use the rubber mallet to tap and remove the base of the chair away from the seat. Use the pipe wrench to clamp tightly onto the top of the cylinder. Twist and then pull up in order to remove the cylinder. Remove the orange cap of the new cylinder. Insert the bottom of the cylinder into the center of the chair base. Carefully lift both the chair base and the chair cylinder into the chair mechanism. The parts will then fasten on their own.
